I keep rewriting it. Sorry. I am currently on the third or fourth rewrite and this one feels better, flows better, and I like it more. I wanted a sense of exhausted triumph and glory.
A bit of a teaser...
“By the grace of alicorns, it’s beautiful,” Seville said as he snapped a picture with his camera. “I’ve never been to the Crystal Empire. This is amazing. Wait… wait, Hush, I need some elevation… I sense a perfect shot coming on!”
Making no response, Hush flapped his wings, angled himself upwards, and gained some elevation at Seville’s request. The earth pony, who looked so very tired and bleary eyed, found renewed vigour at the chance to snap a perfect picture.
The perfect opportunity for a picture presented itself. A white alicorn stallion came tearing out of the clouds, moving along at a great rate of speed...
Also, I strongly suspect that Flurry Heart is going to steal this chapter. Maybe even more so than the white alicorn stallion. Just sayin'. Flurry and Gosling's interaction are going to cause no end of 'HNNNNNG!' from the readers at large. Might even kill a few people.

White Alicorn Stallion? So they ascended Blueblod or Shining? That's my guess.
And a diabetes bomb? Give it your best shot!
After the recent discussion about ascension and who deserves it, it would be interesting if one of the princesses already took action on it. My initial guess would be Blueblood given that conversation, but with the setting of the Empire Shining would make plenty of sense, too. I'm a fan of the pretty rare alicorn Shining Armor, so I certainly wouldn't mind if that was what happened.
Assuming that that isn't a red herring and that something else isn't going on.

Since your daughter, Twilight Sparkle, ascended to alicornhood by unraveling the mystery of Starswirl the Bearded's Last Spell, Luna and I have been investigating the possibility of other deserving ponies also benefiting from the same transformation. Imagine our surprise when we were searching the Crystal Empire's library and found an entire book of Starswirl's lost works, each of which was missing one portion or another. By careful research, your daughter determined that only a very small fraction of the pony population has just the right balance of genetic markers to make such an elevation possible, but to our surprise, Princess Twilight advanced her research just a tiny bit more than we expected, particularly with a spell called, Starswirl's Studly Stallion Spell.
In summary, your son is now the Alicorn of something we really can't repeat, the Crystal Empire is somewhat in shock, and... Well, Luna and I were wondering if perhaps the two of you might be interesting in having any more children. Particularly colts.
