Random bloggy stuff! · 3:44am Apr 24th, 2016

We're going to start this off with a call to action!

The MLP humble bundle is back! Digital, DRM-free copies of the comics! Find all the details HERE.

From one of the comics

Second, a big thanks to my followers! I hit a follower milestone with 1111 a little while back. Now, that's probably the largest number of followers I can get that's a binary number (I think 11,111 is too many to hope for). However, you can be sure if I manage to get 11,111 people following me, I'll be blogging about it. Eventually.

Next up: this week (last Monday), Silver Glow's Journal reached an important milestone: the number of comments exceeded the number of unique views.

I had two big goals in mind for the project. One was to get back in the habit of writing every day, or nearly every day. That, I have achieved.

From the wiki

The other goal was to prompt discussion, and that's been accomplished, too. Those of you who have been reading through the comments have undoubtedly discovered that they've covered all ranges of subjects. We've talked about poets, philosophers, how a pony can ride a snowboard, religion, politics, guns, and the FAA. And we're barely to the end of her second month in Kalamazoo!

Recently in the comments, I mentioned that I had been watching videos on horse psychology. A few of my readers asked for the source, so here you go:

The channel's called Think like a Horse by Rick Gore. Now, he's perhaps not the most pleasant man, or the best videographer, but he knows his stuff when it comes to how horses think. For those people who are interested in having their ponies think like horses, I can't recommend this guy highly enough.

Nextly (I lost count), CatCube did drawings of the embassy in Ponyville. I meant to blog about that weeks ago (literally weeks; sorry CatCube) and then I got busy with other stuff and just plain forgot. Even after he reminded me :facehoof:

Against the left wall is the office and half-bath; in the middle is the foyer and living room; along the right wall is the dining room and kitchen; on the back is the guard's barracks.

On the left is the bathroom. The front bedroom (that shares a wall with the bathroom) is unused; the one behind it is Kate's. Towards the right, the front bedroom is Dale's, and across from it is Lyra's. The long room on the right side is currently unused. Servant's quarters (Diamond Mint and Starlight) are on the back, directly above the guard's barracks.

It's worth mentioning that if one were to go back through the story and attempt to correlate all the little details on his drawing with the description of the embassy, one might find a mistake or two, because I was not consistent.

Also it's worth mentioning that the embassy probably isn't actually buildable from a structural standpoint. But then again, the treebury and the crystal castle aren't, either, so at least I'm in good company with the animators. :derpytongue2:

Since we're on the topic of OPP, lots of people want to know when the next chapter is coming out. Well, my goal is to finish the draft tomorrow.

I love AJ's reaction to Pinkie on the comic panel at the top. Love the look of the Embassy as well

Been there, got it, downloaded 'em all. Love it.

When you say "draft", I assume you mean an unedited one?

Yeah, unedited, and riddled with technical errors and creative misspellings.

Thanks to you both, Admiral Biscuit & 3892278. I've been on the fence about the comics for a while, and this seems like a good time...

3892535 Fifteen bucks. I've done it *twice* now. It's for a good cause, even though I try to buy all the paperback trades too. (and I'm behind a few issues.)

Glad to hear that OPP is still in the works. I'll admit that as much as I like Silver Glow I was worried that she'd replace Dale and Lyra. You've been putting out a lot of chapters and I'm impressed at how much time it must take to write/edit/respond to comments.

Huh. The first floor of the embassy is almost a mirror image of what I pictured in my head.

Also it's worth mentioning that the embassy probably isn't actually buildable from a structural standpoint.

It is a bit large to be a strictly wood frame building... but then again we've seen them building a 5 or 6 story building with a timber frame, idk.

Since we're on the topic of OPP, lots of people want to know when the next chapter is coming out. Well, my goal is to finish the draft tomorrow.

:yay:

And tomorrow is a public holiday, which makes this perfect.

Still at least a week away from publication, I'm afraid, but I've got enough that it's now out to pre-readers.

Yeah, I misinterpreted. I took it as you were uploading then.
