‘The Time To Act Is Now,’ Says Yellowing Climate Change Report Sitting In University Archive

Though nothing will ever beat their article about Bush's inauguration, which was either the funniest thing ever or the least funny thing ever, depending on your point of view.

Holy shit, that Bush article is eerie. :rainbowderp:

Speaking as a cynical atheist, I'm pretty sure Jesus will show up before we follow the advice of that climate change report.

Yeah, it either got funnier and funnier as his administration went on, or less and less funny, depending on whether you wanted to laugh or cry.

3842464 I like to think of the Earth as a rental, and on the Last Day, Jesus will return with a clipboard to walk around the planet and see if we've exceeded our damage deposit. "Hm, I don't remember this river being orange before. Is that mining sludge? Where are all the birds that used to be nesting here?"

3842490 I think you've just described most administrations. Still, even for having a recession and 9/11 dumped on him within the first eight months of his term, he didn't do too bad.

3842535 Yep, we're abusing the Earth like a U-Haul rental: As long as it doesn't break down before we turn in the keys, we're in the clear.

I think you and I must be of fundamentally different politcal factions. You probably think Reagan was an alright guy too, eh?

3842305 I was just about to type that.

3842490 And that too!

3842535 Dubiya's response to 911: "Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists." Was probably the most chilling, ignorant and damaging moment in American politics since the McCarthy era. Also, look at the situation in middle east today after Dubiya's "Mission Accomplished!" and ponder your words

he didn't do too bad.

BTW - his handling of the economy was even worse! The crash of 2008 is a direct result of the Bush administration's mismanagement of Wall Street.

Nah, nothing beats their Arnold article, where they play it completely straight.

Of course, a couple of years ago they broke a legitimate story before anyone else did (the U.S. offering Israel missiles or something) completely by accident. Throw enough darts at a wall and eventually something will actually be too strange to be fiction.

Either you are a great straightman practicing deadpanhumor or batshit crazy. Your comment is a great example of Poe's Law. I should either vote it up or vote it down, but I do not know which to do.

Fuck It, We're Doing Five Blades came out before Gilette came out with the five-bladed razor.

Though the Economist of all places ran a hilarious article about razor blades as well, featuring this graph:

3843430 The great thing about politics these days in America is that nearly everyone on both (all?) sides considers nearly everyone on the other side(s) to be either literally totally insane or dangerously evil to an extent that would raise eyebrows in 1943 Germany. This is, of course, an excellent recipe for running a country designed around calibrated compromises and careful balances.
