Remember "Turtles Forever"? New TMNT just did its own version. · 3:11pm Mar 27th, 2016

This week's new TMNT: the current (CG) version of the TMNT team up with the 80s TMNT to stop the 80s Krang.

Yeah, it's exactly as hilarious as it sounds. :rainbowlaugh:

... I need to watch this

I stopped watching TMNT 2012 after the end of Season 3.

Time travel or not, the Triceratons are undefeatable, and there is no way to change that.

Are the gritty comics turtles, or the awesome 2003 ones, which I grew up with, in there? Even just a cameo would be nice

3830433 The Mirage Turtles do show up briefly as an homage to Turtles Forever. The 2003 Turtles are not even mentioned.

3830412 Yes. Yes you do.

3830426 It's not so much "defeating them" as it is "stopping them from reassembling the black hole generator they used to destroy Earth". And while this season is far from my favorite, it does have its upsides. Such as David Tennant as the Fugitoid.

So, were the 80's Turtles still 2D?

3830465 David Tennant was also the star guest announcer on Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway a few weeks ago too.

He's also done Lord Pomfrey in St Trinian's 2, Barty Crouch Jr in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the bad guy in the Postman Pat Movie (yes, it exists.), and many more aside from his role as the Tenth Doctor...

3830465 Awww, well, even if I haven´t really watched too much of the CGI Turtles, I might check this out.
3830487 I forgot he played Barty Crouch Jr. And WTF is Postman Pat? It sounds familiar

3830485 It depended on which universe they were in. When the 2012 TMNT went to their universe, they were in 2D. When the 80s Turtles went to the 2012verse, they were in 3D.

3830487 That would be because he is an actor.

Yeah, I watched this this morning. My reaction to it?

Well, let's just say that "underwhelmed" is a bit of an understatement.

Why?

Simply because Turtles Forever did a better job of this type of thing in 72 minutes than this thing did in 22 (or however long an episodes is minus commercials).

It did have its good moments, like the 2012 seeing Master Splinter again, but all-in-all, if I want to watch something like this, I'll throw my Turtles Forever DVD in the player.

Like I said, it's the better version of this.

The individual who popped up at the end was rather unexpected, though.

3830433 What 3830465 said.

3830465

The 2003 Turtles are not even mentioned.

Which I thought was a shame, as, for all the screw-ups that 4Kids put it through at times, it was, in my own opinion, the best series out of all the TMNT series that have hit the airwaves.

3830485 This episode kinda jumps back and forth between 2D and 3D/CGI.
I can't say I liked this one, as I wish they'd stuck with one ot the other.

On the other hoof, the 80s Turtles looked absolutely hideous in 3D/CGI.
The 2K12 Turtles, again, on the othetr hoof, looked rerally good in 2D.

3830426 Um tell that to the 2003 TMNT and the comics ones who managed to beat them and fix their entire society/way of life that was broken and dishonored the moment their previous leader was put in charge. The one that the turtles took hostage and stole his ship, the tyrant that started the war that is currently in a cell with the Federation leader. With their friend in charge the Triceratons can go back to being who their truly are, a peaceful warrior race that values honor above all else. If they can do all this for them, then it's highly likely the 2012 ones can do the same. Plus getting rid of the BHG will definitely help the odds.

I found the crossover today enjoyable, but they made the 80s Krang like he was actually part of the 2012 universe but was banished to the 80s universe. That doesn't sit well with me. Not to mention the time framing with what they showed at the end featuring the 80s turtles facing Tiger Claw. The turtles went back in time six months since the destruction of earth. three months of that time was taken by the time they spent at the farm house. Was it literally six months in the turtles time when they first met Tiger Claw and got him transported to the 80s world with the Kraang worm?

3830465 You mean, they've got the 10th docotor from Doctor Who voicing one of the characters on that show? Why is is that Nick has bumped this show to their Nicktoons block and let it be shunted around? THIS is what they should be pushing, not that horribly outdated "School of Rock" show.

3830560 I think it was a U.K. children's show, coming out during the same decade as "Thomas The Tank Engine". The U.K. greenlit a lot of new children's programming at the start of the 80's, but most of it didn't make the leap across the pond to the U.S. as far as I know.

3831758 Maybe that TMNT show needs to find a better network, even Cartoon Network would probably give it a fair chance. Nick seems to like to pretend it doesn't exisit.

3831772 Plus, it would give them a decent cartoon again. I mean, CN has some good ones like Regular Show and Adventure Time still, but then they have.....Teen Titans Go

3831746 TMNT new episodes still air on Nick on Sundays at 11AM Eastern. When they can be bothered to air them. Which is one new episodes a month lately. Nicktoons just runs already-aired episodes.

3831772 Won't happen because Nickelodeon kinda...owns TMNT. Like they owned Korra.

3831804 It's just so sad to see Nick still can't seem to realize why its shows aren't getting talked about anymore. Maybe if they cut their partnership with Viacom, or got some management that actually understands what it takes to create a good television network, maybe they'd get somewhere in the way of clearing out the trash nobody wants.

Maybe if they cut their partnership with Viacom

Viacom owns Nickelodeon.

Watched... that was amusing if a bit short for a Turtles Forever approach XD

3832382 My favorite part was Kraang Subprime's tirade against 80s Krang.

3832548 I loved how 80s cartoon logic was lampshaded
