Very rarely did I feel such dislike for a character as I did for that willful little girl in the story
3804422 she definitely made herself hard to have affection for, that much is true.

Oh no, I mean disliking Amelia.
I understand and accept that she's a polarizing figure, but it always makes me sad when people don't like her. I see a lot of myself in her (though I see more of me in Daphne - I'm not a manipulator like her, though it comes out of fears that I could be if I were more callous) and she speaks for a lot of my lonely, painful childhood.
For some, like my sister and a lot of people, she's their favorite character or at least in the top group, and that's enough for me. Considering everything she does, a lot of people will not forgive her (something I addressed in a recent short story on my blog) and some people never liked her to begin with.
Of course, it's the people who think she isn't realistic for her age that don't bother me much. Them saying Amelia is unrealistic would have thought me or my sister were unrealistic, because we were basically little Daphne and Amelia at that age respectively (we're only a year apart, but the resemblance is strong.)
Regardless, I love her, and, even though I accept that not everyone will feel the same way, it's always a little hard to see.
Anyway - I always really enjoyed your comments on the story. I'm in a pretty melancholy mood today, but I remembered I never answered this.

I don't think I ever called her unrealistic, I kept calling her out because she kept doing the WRONG thing in certain situations. If she had ever stepped back and really considered her options, things wouldn't have gotten as bad as they did in the end.
And I don't really think she ever truly learned her lesson in the end there.
That all being said, it was a good read overall, hence why I also put in a purchase order for a couple copies back then.

Oh no, you didn't, it's just something I get a lot~
And she did, eventually. It took growing up and maturing to do so. Literally.
And I remember~! I'm very gratified :D

I find reading Pirene in printed format to be much more enjoyable than in some electronic device.

Always a good thing, plus it needs NO ELECTRICITY
4437236 4437516 Plus, there is that feel of an actual book in hand that has no comparison

And it requires NOTHING SPECIAL!
