The Story Post #5 - Dinky and Tootsie Flute (Liza Doolots) · 2:47am Mar 10th, 2016

I woke up really early this Thursday so let's get this story post over with.

I do believe I'm going to touch a little on the Dinky and Tootsie Flute dynamic I had going in The Time Keeper and to a lesser extend in the Mysterious Explosion.

For the record I know Tootsie is now canonically named Liza Doolots according to merchandise, I'm though going to keep calling her Tootsie in the Equestria Tales series, though quite open to it that it is a nickname.

As usual, this goes into spoiler territory so keep in mind:

So as you may have noticed if you read the Time Keeper of Ponyville, Derpy had no less than three daughters, one biological, two foster. The young adult Amethyst Star and the two fillies, Dinky and Tootsie Flute.

I went this route with Derpy because I just really wanted to hammer it in that she was a good and competent mother thus Barricade's ludicrous claim against her would sound insane even to the readers and hint that maybe something else was up. But that's not what we are here to talk about today. What we are going to talk about is Dinky and Tootsie and their dynamic.

As you've probably read, those two do practically everything together and even if they argue about rules of a board game, they make quite a mischievous pair and even team up to write Dinky's father the scalding letters, telling him to buzz off if he can't bother to be a proper dad. They also make quite the business fillies at the lemonade stand if The Mysterious Explosion is anything to go by.

So where did I drew inspiration for this duo of silly fillies? (possibly trio once I get Dinky's half sister Coal into this action) .

I'm proud to say that I'm an uncle of no less than four nieces and when the two middle ones get together (they are cousins being daughters of my sisters) it is better than most sitcoms to watch the chaos those two can wreak together. Sometimes they argue like cats and dogs and the next moment they are teaming up for some mischief or another. I'll make it no secret that I drew a lot of Dinky and Tootsie's interactions from them.

I seriously just wanted Dinky and Tootsie to be kids and do what kids do. :pinkiehappy:

That's all for now.
