On to the status updates.

Well, bad jokes aside. There is unfortunately not too much to report right now. I am still picking at the new stories and still working on Temor's hunt.

However, I have been considering a story that is not part of the Equestria Tales series.

What? Me doing a story that's not part of the Equestria Tales. Well, there it is. Let me explain.

So, I have heard this idea floating about before and I personally dismissed it way back when. But ever since the whole Grogar was really Discord twist was revealed way back in season 9, theories did come up that the King Sombra we saw in the season-opening was not the actual real Sombra but basically a Discord-controlled puppet. Or something like that. I've seen various versions of that theory, a doombot, Sombra had his mind basically altered, stuff like that.

I ran across this idea again while trawling through Tv Tropes and it made me wonder if anybody had actually explored this idea. So I started looking the best I could, both on Fimfiction and elsewhere (mostly Fimfiction, though, since that's the main hub of pony stories), and, to my great surprise, found nothing.

Unless I missed something, it's always possible, I did not find any stories that apparently tried explaining why King Sombra was behaving so differently from his season 3 appearance. I was kind of surprised that not even some of the most argent Sombra fans here on this site hadn't even done it. Again, I could be mistaken and missed those stories somehow in my search but yeah, I was quite a bit surprised there wasn't at least a one-shot.

So, I'm considering writing a short story exploring the idea that the Sombra was saw in season 9 was not quite himself. It would take after the show ended and will not be part of the Equestria Tales series. Because for Equestria Tales, season 9 hasn't quite happened yet; it's still only following canon (mostly) up to the end of season 8.

I have already written a little bit of a draft which I might expand upon. So far the idea is that Luster Dawn, Twilight's student, accidentally summons the real Sombra after misunderstanding a lesson from Twilight, that's what I got so far.

As I said, this is al still in the consideration phase, with a small draft written to get the idea on paper, well, virtual paper. I will hopefully have more news on this later.
