So I'm officially writing my first Miraculous Ladybug fanfic as we speak.
I'm always a little nervous when I break into a new series. The first fic is the hardest to write. The characters, the tone, the flavor, the setting...everything is the first time, and all you have to rely on is your own talent and experience.
The funny thing is, what started out as two unrelated ideas for very simple scenes is rapidly evolving into a cohesive story which follows the formula of an episode of the show. But it also goes beyond that, as the original idea that led to this extends past the formula episode premise and into something a little preachy...
Well, when it's done, I'll share. It'll have to be posted on my own website, of course, and I'll link from here. I'd put it up on Fanfiction.net but I honestly hate dealing with that website.
After the cut, a short teaser.
"You know," Ladybug said in the tired, resigned voice of someone who has simply had enough and isn't willing to take any more, "I'm getting really sick of protecting Chloe from Akumatized people she's ticked off."
Chat Noir frowned. "Now that you mention it, she does seem to bring out the worst in people. Literally."
"Well, I'm not saving her spoiled butt again!" Ladybug declared, stamping a foot.
"My Lady?"
"Why should I? She lives to make people miserable! She'll never change! Every single time this happens, she doesn't learn a thing! She just keeps being the same miserable, rotten, selfish little--"
"Calm down, Ladybug," Chat Noir said, putting a hand on her shoulder. "It's not like I don't understand where you're coming from, I do. Really, I do. But what you're talking about...it just isn't right, you know? It isn't the way."
Ladybug sighed, slumping forward. "You're right," she said. "I just...I just wish there was some way to get through to that bleached-blond head of hers that she needs to stop being so, so...so Chloe!"
Chat Noir stroked his chin. "Maybe after we're done here, we can meet up later, grab a cup of coffee, and talk it over?"
Ladybug groaned and rolled her eyes. "Not in the mood right now, Chat Noir. Besides, I don't think our Kwamis would appreciate it."
Chat Noir laughed, rubbing the back of his head. "Yeah, I guess not."
"Still, we do need to figure something out. I mean, how many people can one stupid little rich girl make enemies of?"
"We are talking about Chloe Bourgeois."
hmm..needs more fluff...then, when you have the audience all fooled, SLAM THEM WITH ANGST!

Anyway, brief synopsis of my first Ladybug fic:
Following the standard episode title formula, the title is "Papa Pain". Summary:
Marinette uses her hard-earned savings to buy two tickets to a concert, planning to ask Adrien out. She's finally worked up the nerve to ask, and is in the middle of asking when Chloe passes by and deliberately spills a drink on her tickets, ruining them. Adrien smooths over the situation by rebuking Chloe and then offering to replace Marinette's tickets and go with her, Alya, and Nino as a group of friends. Of course, this isn't what Marinette really wanted, but at least it's time with Adrien. At home that night, though, she cries for hours over Chloe's latest horrible, selfish stunt, with Sabine consoling her as best she can. Tom is watching from the loft door, and he's furious at Chloe for doing this to Marinette over and over again. He's down in the bakery angrily rolling dough when Hawk Moth akumatizes him into Papa Pain. Papa Pain goes after Chloe, in a situation a bit reminiscent of Kung Food but without the over-the-top silliness of that battle. Ladybug doesn't realize until the end of the fight that Papa Pain is HER dad, and the aftermath galvanizes her to visit Mayor Bourgeois as Ladybug and have a long talk with him about how horrible his daughter is.
It'll probably expand a bit beyond that, but right now that's essentially the story. Thoughts?
From what I get, I can infer that this Chloe Bourgeois is even a more static character than Sharpay Evans from HSM...

3795609 Oh, she's much, much worse than Sharpay. Also, her father is the mayor, she constantly throws his name around to try to get her way, is deluded into thinking everybody loves her when nobody can stand her, and is directly or indirectly responsible for no less than seven of the Akumas in season one. For those who don't know how the show's formula works, the series' villain, Hawk Moth, uses the negative emotions, anger, righteous fury, petty grievances, etc. of those who feel they or someone close to them have been wronged or slighted to turn them into supervillains. Chloe has caused a large number of people--mostly her own classmates--to be turned into monsters. It should also be noted that the only other character who's ever directly or indirectly been the cause of Akumatization is Marinette/Ladybug, whose total stands at FOUR--one of which is Chloe. Of the other three, two turned evil over unrequited love and one actually WAS Marinette's fault for a rare moment of insensitivity.
But in Chloe's case? Every single instance of Akumatization she's responsible for has been caused by her self-centered, abusive, bitchy personality.
Sounds interesting.... And props to you for branching out more! I'm actually a little terrified of doing anything outside of MLP again.

3795653 I know it's not an exact match (especially after Crusaders of the Lost Mark), but Chloe's part will be played by Diamond Tiara in the crossover fic you're doing later, right?
3795819 At this point, Chloe and Sabrina will PROBABLY be replaced by Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon, unless I get a better idea--and I really, desperately want a better idea, because DT doesn't really work as a foil for Fluttershy, especially as this is post-RR and not an AU.

3795828 Well, that's the plan at least. It's the only way I can have Sunset Shimmer NOT be the Chloe, but more like Alya instead. Nothing's going to match up 1:1, I don't really do that (after the first chapter or two anyway), but I want to do this one without going the AU roue because I'm tired of spawning a new AU for every crossover I write.
Yeah I'm not fond of Chloe either since half the akumatized villains were a direct result of her actions. Honestly I just got done not hating Diamond Tiara but now this girl has replaced my top cartoon girl I despise the most. But in a sense her father is like Filthy Rich in terms of somewhat being reasonable at times. Makes me wonder if her mother if she has one is like Spoiled Rich?
Ah, yes. Chloe. After that I watched all the episodes today(Bingewatched it) I can say that she is a... What Cartman said about Kyle's Mom.

Chloe may actually be a more awful person than Diamond Tiara used to be. It's getting to the point where I think the main reason Hawkmoth hasn't akumatized her is because A.) she does half his work for him and B.) he's worried she'd be a more powerful villain than him.

Now that Nick's dumped the show like old bathwater, there's no logic in NOT watching the fansubs, and there's only like, two episodes that haven't aired at all in any country. Anyway, as 3796303 said, Chloe DOES get Akumatized into Antibug in one episode. She's...not exactly much of a threat as a supervillain. She's actually more dangerous as herself.

So i watched the first episode after seeing all this fuss you've been raising over it, and... I don't get it. Does it make sense eventually?
3796857 The origin story is actually revealed in the last two episodes of the first season. You CAN watch the two-part season finale first if you really want to, but it's easy enough to figure out what's going on from context provided throughout the first season.
(This is pretty normal for French animated series, BTW. The origin stories usually are told much, MUCH later.)
