Cancelling The Enchanted Carousel, restarting as a new story

    Hi all!

I've already made the announcement in other places, so I figured I might as well do it here, too, to cement the change.

    Hiatus on Story + Thoughts

    Hi all!

Just letting you know this story will be hiatus'd for a bit.

Not because I'm not writing anymore, but because life got in the way so I wasn't able to finish it all in a fugue state as I wanted, and the reality is right now... I am not in the headspace necessary to write it.

Though, since I'm not doing that, I do at least want to talk about it.

    Okay, here we go.

As some folks may know or have seen, I'm currently working on a story that is very important to me. It is still not finished, and will likely be updating in the next following days because I want to write it and get it done in one go.

    Quick Note re: contacting me!

    Hi all!

    I hope you're doing well.

I've been meaning to say this for a while, but keep forgetting because my life has been a dumpster fire for the past year, but I did post a fic today so now's a good time as any!

Re-uploaded Someone To Hold On To as a complete oneshot

    Hello!

Just wanted to get ahead of any confusion for anyone following this story to say that I ended up doing a speedrun of the entire thing and then deleted the old chapters and just posted the entire complete story as a new chapter.

    That was it.

I hope you have been well!

Enchanted Library Artwork Masterpost · 7:05am Feb 21st, 2016

Hi everyone!

The awesome ArcticWaters finished all 15 of the current EL artworks, so even though they're all updated on the fic, I thought it'd be neat to share the little compilation images she did of all of them! HOWEVER, the artwork for the currently unpublished Chapter 15 is in there, so that might be a bit of a spoiler.

Go check 'em out!

Chapters 1 to 3

Chapters 4 to 6

Chapters 7 to 9

Chapters 10 to 12

Chapters 13 to 15

And that's it! Though I love them all, I think my absolute favorite ones are Celestia's and Luna's statue. And, of course, the very last one is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE ONE for probably obvious reasons.

Anyway, as a quick update, Chapter 15 is being written a little slowly but steadily. This chapter shouldn't be too hard to write since my months of writing nothing but RariTwi fluffshots have prepared me for this moment.

A work-in-progress title for it is "the one chapter where Rarity learns denial isn't just a river in Egypt."

Ooh, I wonder how Chapter 15 is.

The last one is adorableness incarnate. :D

I mean no disrespect to such a fine artist, but Scootaloo looks a bit like a bowl or gravy boat at first glance. I don't know if this can be fixed, but it is something to think about.

3767944 Pfftahahaha, you're right, she kinda does look like a gravy boat with legs :D

3767944
Chicken gravy.
I couldn't bring myself to type gibblets.
I'll go now.

Huh. Twi is larger than I pictured her being. Looks quite imposing to Rares :3

Love that Spike statue, and the rest of the pictures are pretty great too.

Random thoughts:
- Seeing all those images I finally understand what I felt odd with the picture of Luna's statue a few days ago: it's a picture of a stone (even if it's in the form of a statue of an alicorn princess) so it doesn't have the mane effects the alicorns have; and having her cutie mark covered by the cloak coudn't help. Now that I know, however, it doesn't bother me as much because it helps descrbe whose statue they are.
- So Twilight is wearing a peytral. makes sense. In that comic whose image you used for the projecctor side-story it felt Twilight was missing something (though it could be that she was standing up --needed for the comical effect of kicking that door).
- Ok, now with your mention of the library not having such doors I imagine Twilight conjuring that door so she could have a door to kick. What's next, conjuring a table so she can flip it? :rainbowwild:
- That reminds me, I haven't commented in the side story yet. I can tell you I like it though.
- Big Spike is big.
- For being statues of very important ponies there are a lot of covered flanks, making them not show their cutie marks (though at least Celestia's is in the base of her statue). I wonder if it's important somehow or if it's just part of "things forgotten to time" like their names and Seeking Night.
- That house looks in remarkably good condition for being (now) inside the Everfree Forest and not being used in centuries. I call magic shenanigans :raritywink:.
- Wait, are those pendants colored? They are!

... Ok, better shut up now.

It's gonna be great. I'm really excited...

3767943
lmao when Arctic showed it to me, I think I giggled for like 50 hours.

3767944
Hi! I don't.. see it, but I will definitely keep it in mind and let her know for the next time Scootaloo appears in chapter artwork! o: Thanks for letting me know c:

3768034
Arctic knows I love the fact that canon!Twi is a bit taller than everyone else, so I think she played with that oops xD

3768174
Yay! I'm glad you liked them, Thomp!

3768197
- Yeah, a lot of the statues appearing in the fics have missing details. Some because of time passing by so ponies don't really know all the details, and some because details were intentionally omitted o:
-omg yeah I think Twi's not gonna be wearing those in the mini-comics
-I'm glad you liked the side-story! o:
-Spike's statue was actually the one I was most excited about hehehe
- Well, you know, about the house... uh... hmm.. uh... iT LOOKS COOL, SHHHHH
- And yes, they are o: In the actual fic, the past chapters always mentioned them as being crystal-clear, and yet the actual cover art of the fic has the necklaces glowing pink too... because basically I've been waiting for what happens next chapter for a really really reALLY LONG TIME.
- and actually, it's funny you commented here, Fil, because I remember the conversation we had way back where you expressed concerns on the romance, and... next chapter is where we find out whether I did a good or bad job with the romantic buildup to what will happen ooops
-i'm actually incredibly nervous about it too oooops who would have thought that the hardest chapter to publish so far was going to be one that's FULLY in my comfort zone xD

3768289
Yeeeah... Arctic really doesn't like derpibooru, but since she's a very good friend of mine, I don't want to pressure her into doing something she doesn't like...

3768367
omg...

Oh please no to what part of it? o:

3768408

I don't want to go into much detail since I don't know much of what happened myself, but a friend of hers had her artwork vandalized and drawn over to completely change the original message, and then when it was posted on Derpi, the actions were encouraged and nothing was done despite the friend asking for the removal of the vandalized drawings. So, I suppose it's a bit of solidarity towards her friend?

I miiiight gently poke her about it to see if she's changed her mind, but I definitely won't make it a big deal if she makes it clear she doesn't want to post them there...

3768425 Hmm I'm not sure what you mean, the chapter that picture is referring to is already posted so we know what happened to Elara.

3768641 When I look at it, It's not particularly easy to recognize it as an ink well. Imagine a reader who hasn't read the chapter yet coming across an image of an owl laying on the ground next to a large footprint with lots of fluid leaking from its head. My first reaction would be that the owl was killed or trampled by some other creature.

3768386
Thanks for thinking of me. And, I appreciate your support even if my perception is different from your own. I'm sure you're artist needs support as well. Doubtlessly you have the talent to express my criticism (assuming it's not seen as a personal opinion or taken as an insult) without harming the artist's ego. I have full confidence in your ability to manage this situation without any fear of retribution. I feel the artist has a wonderful talent inspired by Disney styled animation, I kind of like the extra weight of the characters, and I can see the artist has excellent fine motor control. Not to mention they're obviously more talented than Fluttershy.

As you can see from from the Scare Master collection, those stick figures look like they were produced by a twelve year old and belong on a refrigerator not as part of a haunting gallery. Then again, she does have considerably more talent than some of the work produced by serial killers. So, there is that. Just don't tell Fluttershy I said anything, and pretend everything's fine if it ever comes up. Then again, I've seen similar artists charge money in order to blindfold their patrons or just sit across them in total silence. Who am I to judge such talent. Especially when scribbles from a reputable model....artist cost as much as $5000 dollars a pop these days.

3768034

Since her apotheosis she has been getting taller than the others. Longer horn, lengthier legs. They changed her body model to have a slimmer stomach, too. I first noticed in the Daring Do/AK Yearling episode, been sorta keeping track ever since.

3769670 Oh, I know, noticed it too ages ago. I meant I hadn't remembered this being a factor in the fic. And in this artwork, the difference is significantly larger than in the show too. It's not a bad thing, just something of note ;)

3769839

I also think she's a good bit older in this AU, too. Even prior to the... discorporating. Un-bodying. Spiritization. ... You know what I mean you crazy blueberry-orange sherbet person, you. But yes! Definitely something to note.

3768880 Ooh you made me realize that thing next to the footprint was an inkwell, not an owl. It totally looks like an owl.

Perhaps it's meant to be an owl-shaped inkwell? I'm not sure if the story itself describes it any further than just being an inkwell.

I think I forgot to mention that I love these. :) They perfectly capture both the story and the "olde timey" illustrations from classical literature! I think this was a brilliant idea, especially now that I see it implemented.
