Friendship is Card Games: Trixie and the Razzle-Dazzle Ruse

We return to the pony novels this week, and hopefully a better showing from the titular mare. Last time we saw Trixie in one of these, G. M. Berrow was channeling the fandom circa 2011 and making her and Gilda the designated antagonists of the piece. Let’s see what she’s up to this time.

Friendship is Card Games: Kenbucky Roller Derby #2 & #3

We return to the cutthroat world of G5 roller derby, where Sunny’s trying her darndest to prove she’s more than just a casual skater… and has assembled one of the most ragtag teams of misfits this side of the Mighty Ducks in the process. Let’s see how the story’s developed from there.

    Swan Song

No, not mine. The Barcast's. The last call is currently under way, and if you want to hear my part in the grand interview lightning round, you can tune in at 4:20 Eastern/1:20 Pacific (about an hour from this posting.)

Yes, 4:20 on 4/20. No, I do not partake. Sorry to disappoint. :derpytongue2:

    Pest List

Just something I whipped together for fun one day, set to a possibly recognizable tune, all intended in good fun. And hey, given that I derived my Fimfic handle from a misremembered detail of the Mikado, it's only appropriate. :derpytongue2:

Friendship is Card Games: d20 Pony, Ch. 9, Pt. 1

Goodness, it’s been almost two years since I last checked in on Trailblazer’s adventures. IDW putting out comics almost as quickly as I could review them will do that, especially given all of the G5 video media coming out concurrently.

Glad to see people are enjoying Restoring Agency. Rest assured, One Day I Found a Multiverse in My Pajamas is more than half done. It's just that this idea blindsided me and I wanted to get it out in time for Valentine's Day.

Anyway, I was at Friday Night Magic last night, checking my phone to see the reaction, when I saw that I had a PM other than the approval notification. It was from Themaskedferret, sending me a link to sta.sh and asking if I could recognize the subject. And now, I ask you the same question.

If you said "mutant Lyra from The Implicit Neighs," you are absolutely correct! Ferret got the esteemed Magello to make this, and I for one am very pleased with it. Just wanted to share it with you all.

That's pretty cool.

Lyra!

I'd known Implicit Neighs would be a wonderful story from the time I saw the pun title. That was a good time.

Was the skin on Biomancer Lyra's arms missing or transparent in her textual description? That's a neat detail.

It was. A shame I deviated so far from the canon. It'd be hilarious to have Jace try to balance the needs of the pony community and two reawakened demigods as part of his Living Guildpact duties.

Yup, the skin on her upper arms was explicitly described as transparent. I got the inspiration from the see-through craniums on Novijen Sages. I hadn't envisioned it extending across the entire arms, but I have to say, I like the effect. You really can't have too much emphasis on a humanoid Lyra's arms.

What's your shop run for FNM?

Drafts, generally. They recently started a policy where they start a draft as soon as eight people sign up. It's great for when you have a tricky scheduling situation, but last night, we had to wait until it was almost eight o' clock to actually get started. Bit of a double-edged sword.

So no constructed? Huh. Draft is sweet, though. Gimme dat BW Cohort deck every time.

The trickiest part was the unstated stuff, like 'does she have a tail' XD

3751882 I never got an answer.

Given the subject matter, there really is no wrong answer there. I don't think I'd decided when I wrote it. Suffice to say, as far as I'm concerned, this is made of solidified awesome.

Now you're getting a fair bit of fan art for your stories and random events pertaining to you eh, Foamy? :rainbowlaugh:

That is rather fascinating that this was inspired by Novijen Sages. Tbh, when I first looked at them, I didn't notice the see through skin and thought they just didn't have skin there. Other than looking awesome, with a dash of morbidity, there has to be some practicality to it other than a fashion choice, right? I mean, it's blue. Perhaps a good way to monitor the health of someone, to see if certain implants have taken. An good educational (and living) tool for someone to teach the liner workings of the body? Or perhaps it's a way to psych out or freak out other mages into screwing up their spells?

Ooo... think of the other applications other than arms or heads.

And then imagine if Stitchers on Innistrad got their hands on these skin methods. It would certainly be a fashion statement at that point. On second thought, they might go the more time effective the route and just not bother stitching the skin back on.

Both pieces by Magello, no less. One of these days, I should cut out the middleman and arrange something with him personally.

Given the Simic, transparent epidermis is probably used for all of those reasons and more. Stitchers probably wouldn't be much interested in it or any of the Combine's other methods, though. After all, they all assume that the subject is still, you know, alive.
