Another year in which the politics of fear, anger and division continued its onslaught on common decency and civilized behavior in political discourse, as well as its attack on the very foundations of democracy and the institutions that protect us all from charlatans, demagogues and the ugly, slippery slope that leads to fascism, and worse.

I actually finished a story for a contest on time.
This chapter is the first of the original chapters published in Wizards of Everfree Valley, i.e. chapters that were not part of the OC Slamjam competition. It described an important event in the genesis of the personal spell caster industry. Resemblances to actual events and participants are entirely on purpose. Can you catch them all?
