Blog #13: Look, It's My Lucky Number · 2:43am Jan 28th, 2016

I don't know what's so special about the number 13. Apart from it being a prime number, that is, but it's not even a big prime number ... anyway, it means that the year is over and a new one has begun. And I guess I could use some luck. Can't we all?

So Did I Die Last Month?
I didn't do a blog last month, so what about that? Maybe I died a little bit. Might as well. The truth is, I had some trouble writing in December; there was a lot to do and I had to work out some personal stuff, and then when I did try to write, I could not really get anything done, no matter what I tried. Eventually, I settled with merely surviving until after the holidays. Between Christmas and New Year, I took off five days for myself in which I mostly lay in bed, snuggled up to my Fluttershy plushie and read fanfiction on my new tablet. The whole thing meant not writing for as much as 12 full days, which really is the most I've gone without working on fiction since summer 2014. But it's alright, because I was then able to sit down, fix some issues that my story had, and continue with new-found spirit. Then came the end of the break, and here is where it gets frustrating. I was forced to step back from writing for another 11 days just to meet all the deadlines, and it really did make me miserable. Now, it's over and I have picked up writing again, approaching the 50,000, at last, for my Shining Armor story. Unfortunately, finals are coming, and also a block seminar, so I don't really know how things will work out until it's finally over some time in March. All I know is first that of all I'm really excited about what I'm writing right now, and second of all that I'll do my best to come around to the second revision of the Princest story whenever it's possible.

Fanfiction Of the Month Plus All Those Other Months Before
The last Fanfic of the Month was in October, no? That's a long time ago. Well, I'll just pick three then! Fist of all, Taken For Granite by Cloudy Skies, which I was unfortunate enough to read during the week before Hearthbreakers aired. I don't want to give away spoilers, but I'll say as much as that it completely ruined the episode for me with its headcanon. You can find out in which way if you read it.

For less shipping and more action I also read the rather famous Hard Reset by Eakin. It was an absolutely thrilling experience to read, and I think it doesn't need much explaination - this is a classic.

As a third story, I want to talk about Alarm Clock by Meta Four. This I would say is the most interesting of all of these. The concept is at least 200% more mindbreaking than Hard Reset and indeed very bizarre. You want to stay away from this one if the words "Krasnicker tube" or "seventh-dimensional space" evoke allergic reactions in you. However, of all three stories I'm presenting today, this was the one that I enjoyed the most, so this would be my overall recommendation for the month if I had to choose one.

So long, I'm off to another busy month.
