Littlest Pet Shop Season 4: "Petnapped!" (Spoilers) · 5:37pm Jan 23rd, 2016

So this was an interesting episode.

This week's episode's two storylines were as follows:

1. Blythe and Youngmee stumble upon the thieves who burglarized the mansion of a recently deceased millionaire while attempting to rescue a stolen Spaniel who instantly bonded with Youngmee.

2. Russell accidentally deleted the season finale of his favorite show before he could watch it, and the other pets attempted to put on a re-enactment of it, but screwed up and downloaded a recap of the wrong season finale, leading to some quick, improvisational live-action fanfiction which Russell ended up liking better than the actual episode that aired.

The British soap opera silliness subplot is perfect potty break material even when it lampshades stuffy British dramas like Downton Abbey. The real highlight of this episode is Blythe and Youngmee pulling off some EPIC Kid Detective hijinks while trying to rescue the stolen dog and foil the thieves long enough for the police to arrive.

Bonus points for Blythe calling the cops as soon as their first wacky scheme fails, then Blythe, Youngmee, and Zoe stalling the thieves just long enough for the cops to arrive. Action Girls much?

And of course, the beauty of this episode is that Youngmee FINALLY has her own pet: Nutmeg Dash, the rare and valuable Spaniel with whom she forms an instant connection.

Got a link? My usual site has gotten a bit slow lately.

How many episodes are left now?

3707402 Most likely another 13. The series will end shortly after reaching 100 episodes.

3707361 I just watched it on TV, so no. (Also, even if I did, it's against site rules to share such links.)

3707402 Thirteen episodes are left. LPS will end at 104 episodes, making it the second longest single Hasbro TV series after Friendship is Magic.

3707440 It is?:rainbowhuh: Huh. Noted. Wait, LPS is ending?!:pinkiegasp:

3707458 It is, they confirmed this is the last season. It's kind of a shame because I think they could go for a bit longer if they really wanted to, but 4 seasons and over 100 episodes is still a good run time.

3707497 True. It was great while it lasted. But at the mention of Blythe's mom earlier in the season, my thought was, "At least another season or two."

3707507 I'm hopeful that the second half of the season will touch on that more heavily. At the start of the season it looked like it was going to be a reoccurring theme alongside "Littlest Pet Street" and Youngmee's search for a pet, which wrapped up with this episode. Weird considering I always thought Buttercream was Youngmee's pet, and Sugar Sprinkles Aunt Christie's, but this season confirmed that's not the case.

3707510 Yeah. I always thought both were Youngmee's.:derpytongue2: But now we know. I'd always wondered what was up with Blythe's mom, so discovering her gift of understanding pets was actually inherited. This was actually put in question when the medicine Blythe was taking for a cold had the side-effect of, "Loss of ability to talk to animals.":rainbowlaugh:

3707497 It's ending because viewership is down (and it was never THAT high to begin with), IIRC. It's a shame, because if bronies had stayed on the channel and discovered how awesome LPS is, it could be taking off and go another season or two. Alas, it is not to be. Still, the final season is giving us everything it's got.

3707510 3707520 Buttercream was always known to be Christie's pet. Sugar Sprinkles...is actually still a gray area. Since she "ran out of cat food" recently (leading to her rage fit) and has been seen in the Sweet Truck when Christie is driving it, Christie is obviously taking care of her, but we've never actually seen EITHER of the Songs acknowledge her existence on-screen. My headcanon is that she just sort of came with the truck, the Songs discovered her living in the truck, and they were like "Yeah okay" and started feeding her.

As for Blythe's mom's journal...yeah, that just kind of disappeared after S4E2, but I'm sure it's going to become prominent again in the back half of the season as the series winds to a close.

3707804 Well, it will be remembered as one of Hasbro's better creations.

As for Sugar Sprinkles, that headcanon, with the ideas we come up with these days, may actually make sense. I always say Buttercream as Youngmee's pet since Youngmee was usually the one watching her. I guess that was just because Christie was always busy with work. But I always had this weird vibe from Sugar Sprinkles, like she was their pet, but seeing as she practically lived in the truck, I figured she pretty much took care of herself. Cats do really tend to care for themselves and do their own thing. But coming with the truck? I wouldn't put it past Hasbro.:rainbowlaugh:

As for the journal, they need to use it, and use it well. One things that tends to (further) ruin a show is when important stuff like that comes up, then just falls off the edge of the world after that one episode.

But seeing this season's episodes, I have some faith in Hasbro sending the show off with a BANG.

3707912 I'm sure Betty's journal and Littlest Pet Street will both be important in the last quarter of the season, just like the Cutie Map and the Rainbow Keys were in S4-S5 of MLP.

As for Sugar Sprinkles, well...there's a reason my nickname for her is Stoner Hobo Cat.

3707961 We can only pra- wait, what do you call her?!:rainbowlaugh: Hobo Cat, I agree with, but... actually, she does sometimes sound like she just smoked literal pot of pot.:rainbowlaugh:

3707983 My very first thought when I saw the episode where she was introduced was "stoner hobo cat".

I stand by that.

3708119 Well, if the sugar-coated fur fits.:rainbowlaugh:

3708119 First Sugar Sprinkles and now Tree Hugger and the Big Lewboski ponyfied in the 100th episode? It's like DHX has a thing for stoners or something.

3708576 Well they ARE Canadian.
