Stuff about my new fic, Lost Tme · 9:28pm Dec 29th, 2015
I released the first two chapters of my story for the Appledash contest today. You can see it linked there on the side of the screen. (Or, wherever, if you're a crazy mobile user.) After this, the update schedule will be one chapter every other day. Hopefully that will give people time to read each chapter, but not too much wait time between them. At 11 chapters, that should have me finished the day before the contest deadline. The fic will be marked complete on January 16th.
For some of you, a new AppleDash fic will be all the recommendation you need. For others, the fact that it’s a new AppleDash fic of a nice, satisfying size (I’m not totally done the last few chapters, but it’s already 36,000 words, and looking to top 50k by the time I’m done) will be a good reason to read it.
For other folks who follow me, the AppleDash isn’t a selling point. In some cases, it’s even a drawback. I know some people consider AppleDash cliched or played out. If that’s you, you might want to take a look at this story anyway.
I talked a long time ago about relationships as being a separate character in a romance fic-- the relationship is actually the protagonist, and the characters in it are there to support it or antagonize it. Relationships, I argued, have their own traits, their own flaws and abilities, their own likes and dislikes, etc.
This isn’t a story about a relationship. It’s a story about three unique relationships, two romantic and one friendship, between the same two ponies. It’s also, on top of that, the story of a different kind of relationship, a family, and how those other relationships and the ponies involved help and hurt it.
What I’m saying is AppleDash has been done before, but it’s never been done like this. I’m not saying that because I’m some kind of awesome writer; I’m not saying I can do things with AppleDash that all the other writers (many of them equally or more awesome) have missed. I’m saying it because I have an awesome story to tell, and it happens to be a story about Applejack and Rainbow Dash and relationships.
Also, I have worked damn hard on this thing, so somebody better read this shit.
Sometimes it feels like I'm influencing you.
Definitely liking what I see so far, looking forward to more!
How most writers feel before releasing their magnum opus, only to have it go largely ignored compared to their sillier, shorter, fluffier stories.
On that note, I do truly wish you the best of luck. I'll be reading it. I might even keep up with it every day.
Hope it's as good as you say, because this will be my first AppleDash fic.
Well, you're already featured, so there's that.
Best of luck. I know I'm hooked.
No, this story has one of the more tantalizing descriptions I've ever seen. :D
This is going right next on my list of shit to read.

Hey, sometimes you gotta lay it out there.
3650517
Thanks! It won't be too long.
3650621
And this is why you gotta lay it out there.
Really, if this was wildly popular, I'd be thrilled, but as long as some folks end up appreciating it, I won't be too disappointed. I feel like it's kinda "this is what I'm capable of," so even if my fluffy stories are more popular, no one can say that's all I can do.
And I'm kinda amazed that you've been in fandom this long and not been exposed to AppleDash! The way some people complain about it, you'd think someone puts a gun to every brony's head and makes them read an AppleDash story before they're allowed to look at other ships.

Thanks! I hope I can do it justice.

Oh, I've been exposed to it. But I'm one of those rare readers whose least-preferred genres to read is romance/shipping. Not only that, but same-sex ships tend to be an an automatic "nope." I can literally count the amount of same-sex shipfics in my favourites with the fingers on two hands. In fact, I can list them for you now:
The Gentle Nights: Audience of One (Luna x Octavia)
Twice as Bright (Pinkie Pie x Celestia)
Fractured Sunlight (EqG Twilight x Sunset)
Romance Reports (Twilight x Luna / Braeburn / Rarity)
Perception (Aged-up Scootaloo x Sweetie Belle)
Trixie vs Equestria (Luna x Trixie)
As you can see, I prefer that a romance between same-sex characters is given more of a story-driven justification to occur as opposed to a writer just shipping them because they think they'd be cute together, and then manufacturing a story purely based around that.
But I know you're capable, so I'm giving you a chance to convince me.

I appreciate the open mind.
Welp! As a long-time AppleDasher, I got to give this a read, then.
AppleDash or not, will read because you are an amazing author whose horse words inspire me to reflect upon the human condition
