Some Stuff About Brotherly Bonding Time · 6:08am Nov 26th, 2015
As of today, I have finished the June segment of Brotherly Bonding Time. It took me forty chapters and 11 months to do so. And over time, the chapters just kept getting higher word counts, getting to above 7.5 thousand words in about two of the chapters.
Oh my goodness... how did that happen...
On word count, it's safe to say that it's longer than The Rock Farmer's Daughters. And it's not even one-third of the way done, and I'm considering dividing it into separate stories in an effort to try to make it an easier read. And maybe changing up the tags because some of the content makes me question it, and I don't even think I'm all that funny. And I have a tendency to make my stories go darker as I go along...
So to recap...
Ponyville: Cutie Mark Crusaders fight fruit bats; Cheese helps Ponyville throw a party for Pinkie; Tommy's on the sidelines
Woods: Cheese and Tomato are chased up a tree by Bighoof, and are rescued by Sedimentary Rock
Nickerlite: Turns out Bluejinx is the son of a former outlaw; said former outlaw's former gang teams up with Diamond Dogs to try to kill Bluejinx, Tommy, and two of Pinkie's sisters
Halterside: Flim Flam Brothers nearly kidnap sick party pony; duet battle ends in humiliating defeat for Sandwich Bros
Las Haygas: Tomato and new friend Silk Shimmer work for creepy magician Kazam; Kazam turns Tomato into a vampire, sics him on his audience, and attacks the rest of the city with a vampire army; Cheese, Silk, and the Great and Powerful Trixie have to stop them
Respite in Ponyville: Tommy's cured and Cheese meets Discord
Canterlot: Cheese switches bodies with Celestia; his lack of political experience, inherent weirdness, and some trauma from Las Haygas ruin everything
Our Town: Cheese gets sick, and Tomato has to team up with Party Favor to throw a party
So, folks, what do you suppose will happen in the July segment of the story? What sort of places do you think that Cheese and Tommy will go to next? What kind of misadventures (whether wacky or scary) will they have? What characters do you suppose they'll meet?
My stories always start out simple and then suddenly get weird and complicated. What the heck?

Tell me about stories that mushroom. I quail before the task of writing Corruption at Nightfall, which I've come to realize is logically a trilogy the length of Lord of the Rings. Probably never wind up doing it.
I don't know where they'll go, but ...
... the other shoe has to drop. Cheese has made a terribly bad decision by having those memories suppressed. And what sort of pony has the sort of power needed to do that in the first place? For that matter, a power like stripping memories manifesting in a place like Our Town, which was founded by somepony who had and abused a terrible power to take something very intimate away from other Ponies, does not sound coincidental to me. You've set up expectations, which Story must fulfill.
With Wayer Rune loose, he's definitely going to crop up again. Mad unicorns have a habit of that sort of thing. And, of course, there are a wide variety of issues that can rise from Cheese's memory loss. I can only imagine what will happen next itme he's in Ponyville or Canterlot. That many ponies insisting on a Las Haygas trip that he's sure never happened... A party pony questioning his sanity almost certainly won't end well.
Then there's Tomato's character arc. He's learning the importance of balance in life, but the specter of his mother likely still lingers over him. It will probably take more than one successful managerial experience for his sense of self-worth to recover.
As for where next? For some reason, I'm thinking Rainbow Falls. Or Cloudsdale. The Cheesy Sense cares not for logistics.
