Hello, I was in the neighborhood and had just realized that my last blog post was a bit of a downer, given that it was around the time of my Grandma's passing and funeral. I think I oughta leave you folks with something a bit more upbeat or at least something neutral.
So, a thing I've been wondering about is if I could share a couple of my non-MLP writings with y'all. Obviously, I can't publish them here, but maybe provide a couple of links to some drabbles involving a couple of other fandoms in case you're curious.
Anyway, here's a couple of Darkwing Drabbles, one set at a neighborhood barbecue and the other at a museum, which tease a lengthier story involving a couple of ideas I thought would be interesting to explore, but alas...
And here's a little sketchy comic series starring Orko from He-Man, taking place in its own continuity. I meant for it to be, like, three posts, but I went overboard like I tend to do.
I also have some unfinished stuff in my Google Docs, I might share some of it if you like.
Strangely enough, drawing out a story can be both easier and harder than writing it. On the one hand, I don't have to worry about word choices, describing things and emotions, I could be more subtle in some areas, and I could foreshadow things without having to say a word. On the other hand, drawing things over and over can get a bit tedious, some things are more blatant when I don't want them to be, and some things are just plain difficult to draw.
But, hey, I'm still creating, even if I haven't done pony stuff in a while. It's hard to admit, but I guess I just got burnt out. Which stinks, because Brotherly Bonding Time is left unfinished, with the next chapter still only half-done as of today. It's one of those Google Docs I mentioned...
In other news, my workplace got new flooring and we reopened this week. It's been crazy, especially with Halloween season here and everyone wanting to get some costumes and decor. Not sure what my Halloween plans are yet, besides my costume being that of a wizard.
We got chicks back in spring, and they're now old enough to lay eggs. They're a Leghorn named Henrietta, an Olive Egger named Olive, and a Barred Rock with two different names because my sister Artsy Notes wanted a pun name (Eggatha), but I think it's a terrible pun so I just call her by a shortened form of her initial name, Bertie (the original name was Eggberta, but at least that was easier to make a nickname out of). I'm seeing how long I can get away with it, considering it sounds like I'm calling her 'birdie'.
Got in my three swims for the summer. Back in June, I finally took Marshmallow Wings to a water park she's been yearning to go to. It was fun, but we remember that day better for the tire that blew out on the way home. Then I went to a pool by myself sometime in July, and while I missed August, we went kayaking for Labor Day and I took a dip then.
I guess nothing too spectacular happened since you last heard from me.
Hopefully, I'll talk more around here. It's kinda nice to talk from time to time.
Good to hear from you. Thanks for sharing some of your more recent work.
