I'm still going to have Diamond Tiara's mother leave them for Black Marble. Since she seems like a social climber, and is as nasty, blackmaily, and horrible as I imagined Deet's mother to be. But what do y'all think. Should I retcon her mother from Suri Polomare, to Spoiled Rich or keep her as is?

To be perfectly honest, I don't think it matters, since the Goldenverse is already an alternate universe to the show's canon.
But as to which I'd prefer, I'd say that you should change it, since, despite what she did in her episode, Suri doesn't seem to be the kind of pony to leave someone she's married to (or get married at all, for that matter), whereas Spoiled is such a b*tch that I think it would be perfectly in character for her to do something like that.
You can always write around things. Hell, you could have had a name already made up for Diamond's mom and then argue that the one from the show was her real mom or something. Or her step mom.
You know. It could work either way. New readers would want a better hate sink character and since that's what you were going for then Spoiled Rich could work fine. Suri has more relatable "Going to do it on my own" attitude, hell she was Rarity's Diamond Tiara.
The problem with Suri though, if you consider it a problem, is she has the whole believable sad backstory they can give her any time. You could practically hear the disappointments and potential hardships she's had to go through to stay afloat, and barely managed it seems if it wasn't for Coco who she picked up.
One is a social climber who spends her time buried up the plots of high society ponies, a pretender who got to where she is by marrying rich (heh that double meaning) and easily seen as someone who could easily slip away if better and bigger opportunities came along.
The other is a washed up pony who left to blindly follow her dreams of becoming an instant celebrity in the fashion world, only to find cold shoulders, empty promises from those who would take advantage of a small town naive filly like Suri who had her world view corrupted potentially further by such big city life challenges.
But both work as terrible parents wjp abandon their child and husband for what they believe to be an easier and more pampered life. If her mother was only recently introduced and you haven't gone into detail about the mother's fashion ways, then it'd be pretty easy to just go for Spoiled Rich. If she's been a part of your story for a long time and you just want to try line it up with show canon more, than Spoiled Rich.
I guess I'd vote Spoiled Rich. Easier to dislike her. Suri is a thief and a liar, nothing special there or overly cruel aside from her being a terrible boss to her employee.

Her mother was named once, in the earlier chapters of ToL, but it hasn't came up since then. I was planning on using her in a few scenes here and there when Diamond comes back into the story, but she's small enough of a part that changing her won't effect all that much. And yep, was mostly looking for a hate sink that'd explain Diamond Tiara's black mailing, and rather darker parts of her personality. Suri looked just enough like her, and was enough of a thief that I could see her using black mail, and other under hooved tactics to get her way.
SR though ... wow. That was an entirely different ball park.

And the "best" part of SR is that you don't even need to hear her say a single word in order to give that impression. Just looking at her tells you everything you need to know right off the bat. And then her voice... oh Celestia, you can just HEAR the snootiness.
That combination is why I'm actually grateful to the creative team for putting her in the episode, since now I have a character who I can not only say I hate, but I can also feel good about hating them, since before this episode, I hated DT, but it never felt right to do so.

After all the original choice of mother was chosen when we didn't know who Deet's mother was, or if she was still around. Suri made the best choice. Seeing her canon mother, is even better. Especially since I had plans on it being used later on beyond Deet's backstory in this AU. *Points to the blog itself* I'm see-sawing between if I should retcon it or not [for readers of the story.]
