Bradel won a Writeoff medal, but I won the REAL competition ... · 9:45am Oct 16th, 2015

... the rap battle. :pinkiecrazy:

While we were discussing the poetic references in one of this round's stories, my literary credibility came into question (because I cannot Robert Frost NEVER YOU MIND WHY), which led to some literary dissing, and a literary response, and ... well, don't take my word for it, check out Everyday's hilarious dramatization, "Epic Rap Battles of the Writeoff":

Props to my main rabbit Everydizzle fo' some serious swaggedy swiggedy.

In other news: Fans of Verse Averse: Tales of the Versebreakers will appreciate FanOfMostEverything's reaction to the latest episode. "Crusaders of the Lost Mark" was chock-full of musical numbers, after all, and what better way to address that than an after-action report from Canterlot's newest recruit?

Check it out here. (Link goes to Google Docs, until such time as FOME decides to publish it here on FIMFic. I'm hesitant to add new stories to a completed anthology, but if there's further interest in the Versebreakers I might have to do more with the Verseverse.)
Contains episode spoilers, but what doesn't by now?

These things were not, I should note, the only awesome creative output that has come my way lately — there was a reading and a poem for The Last Dreams of Pony Island, too, but I'm saving those for when I have some time to write up my final round-up post.

Finally, if you have a free minute, go fill out bookplayer's survey about FIMfic reading habits. She's trying to get a wide sampling of data to determine how length and completion status affect a fic's reception. (Source blog post is here, if you want to join in the discussion.)

Hmm. Looks like I'm going to need to add that scene with Lyra asking Bonbon to look over the report after all. ("I'm sure you submitted a bunch of them for that anti-monster agency, right?")

You are not allowed to talk hip-hop anymore. D:

I suggest a sequel. There have got to be more great authors around here who can come up with more takes on the concept. I barely read pony fiction anymore (bad skull, no biscuit) but I would read that.

That's right, Versebreakers was before Episode 100! Oh man, the LyraBon conversation there could get interesting. If you do edit the story I'm looking forward to the additions.

I'll hang the revocation notice on my trophy board right next to my cancelled poetic license.

… is that the sound of you volunteering? I mean, you're right, I would need great authors who are interested in the idea … :raritywink:

Now that you mention it, darn right it is! :raritywink: But my own coyness aside, after Episode 100 and a new musical, I would almost say you can't not do another one.

Hurrah!

I'll have to add another Versebreaker Lyra story somewhere on my own to-do list, and shake the trees a little bit to see who else might be interested. (Though I wonder if maybe it would be better to make the anthology a little looser, by having everyone publish their story separately and creating a FIMFic group to collect them in.)

Not a bad idea. Actually, since I read the original, I've wondered why there wasn't one. There have got to be more surprises in store when the next batch of submissions start coming in.

(That said, I admit I'm glad there isn't a deadline too soon, since about an hour after my last comment, I saw my work schedule for this week, and it's crazy. Oops. :facehoof:)
