So A Real Question: Who Do You Want For President? · 2:33pm Sep 22nd, 2015

It's obvious that the main things anybody talks online these days it the upcoming 2016 elections where a new president will be decided. Thus, I decided to get it over with and finish my curiosity by asking who of my readers and viewers are wanting in the White House.

That being said, a few rules:

1. RESPECT EVERYBODY'S CHOICE! I don't care if you think all conservatives/liberals are the devils, in this country people are free to choose and believe in whatever they want. Meaning if you find somebody who is in support of Trump, Sanders, Bush, Clinton, I don't care if you hate or disagree, respect their choice. Failure is deletion of comments.

2. No arguments. This is not a debate blog post or thread, this is all about giving your thoughts on who you want to run as President of the United States. You can give your reasons, but do not engage in an argument with somebody about it. You want to argue, take it elsewhere like in a PM. Failure is deletion of comments.

3. Responses are okay, but not insulting ones or ones where you want to prove your superiority. The moment I see somebody respond in either of these fashions, I will delete your comments.

4. No Political Propaganda. Don't post anything that is propaganda that speaks the glory of capitalism or socialism or religion or atheism or left or right. We get enough of that on twitter, facebook, and the news.

5. You don't have to explain WHY you are voting for that person. You are free to just say "This is who I am voting for, and I have my reasons." You don't need to say why.

Now for me. I am hoping for Carley Fiorina. I think Fiorina is the best level headed one out of the Republicans, and I don't like any of the Democratic choices. (For those who are curious as to my political stance, I am more or less Libertarian).

Please follow the rules and post your wish for President.

EDIT: For those out of the US, feel free to say what you want as your next leader.

I'm English so I can't really decide

What is your stance on gun control?

As of right now, I feel that Chris Christie is who I will vote for.

But as much as I personally hate it, I am starting to like Jeb Bush... :raritycry:

I have either two choices for President. Bernies Sanders and someone other then Donald Trump.

You are free to say which leader you want for your country.

3411760
I believe in the second amendment and I think people have a right to own arms. However, I believe we need tighter mental health checks on those who are trying to purchase guns. Those who do not pass a tight psychological test should not be given any chance of a gun and must be recorded in a database so they can be watched, otherwise people are free to own them as long as they pass standard procedure. I would, however, only limit the buying of guns to shotguns and rifles only unless they are in law enforcement or military. I see no need for people to own pistols or machine guns.

Sanders is the only person anyone should choose.

3411767 Anyone but Cameron

For the Democrats it's:
Former Governor Lincoln Chafee (Rhode Island)
Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (New York)
Former Governor Martin O'Malley (Maryland)
US Senator Bernie Sanders (Vermont)
Former US Senator Jim Webb (Virginia)

For the Republicans it's:
Former Governor Jeb Bush (Florida)
Dr. Ben Carson (Florida)
Governor Chris Christie (New Jersey)
US Senator Ted Cruz (Texas)
Businesswoman Carly Fiorina (Virginia)
Former Governor Jim Gilmore (Virginia)
Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee (Florida)
Governor Bobby Jindal (Louisiana)
Former Governor George Pataki (New York)
US Senator Rand Paul (Kentucky)
US Senator Marco Rubio (Florida)
Former US Senator Rick Santorum (Pennsylvania)
Businessman Donald Trump (New York)

Hmm... I'd say Kasich, but he has a few things I massively disagree with. I suppose anyone but any of the Democratic contenders, Trump, Huckabee, Fiorina or Carson.
3411767 Fair enough, but I'd say someone could own rifles (single-shot, semi, and/or fully automatic if they passed proper tests), shotguns in general, and pistols such as 9mms or revolvers for self-defense. I can agree with the sentiment that you probably don't need an Uzi or AK-47 for self defense, though I do have to say, I'm a bit concerned that nobody has pointed out that poisons and bombs probably shouldn't owned by any civilian...

3411788
Sadly, these days you can make poisons and bombs without buying them so really it's kind of pointless to enforce a law about them

As long as it's not Hillary. It really depends on who the Republicans put up. I would vote for Trump (I don't see things getting much worse than now), but I need to look into the candidates a little more. As of right now, I don't see any Democrats that I would throw my vote to.

Unfortunately, since I live in California, it really doesn't matter. It seems that whoever is running on the Democrat ticket is the one who the voters here go for (for all races).

3411768
Aren't you in Ireland?

3411792 I just needed to say this: I think Carly was a bit of a bitch during the debates. I'm fine with someone wanting her as president, but when she was so thin-skinned that Donald Trump of all people makes her feel the need to totally derail the debates to have a pissing match with him? No, I don't feel safe with either of their hands on the nukes.

3411800
Every vote still matters. Even in the face of opposition.

For me it's Bernie Sanders, I feel his policies and what he wants to bring to the table is what the country needs right now, from what I've seen he doesn't like getting into the same pitfalls as other candidates. We don't need a man like Trump in office.

Bernie Sanders is my top pick but I'd settle for Hillary. If we have to have a republican, I hope to God it's Jeb Bush. I heard there was one more reasonable than him even in the first debate but for the life of me I cannot remember his name.

3411801 I only live there, but I am american. I can still vote from abroad. :P

https://www.isidewith.com/political-quiz is a much better tool for everyone to look at and see who you actually agree with. Chances are it's not what you think~

3411800 Can't say I agree with your vote, but suppose your candidate wins the popular election even if he looses the electoral college. It would be one more reason to do away with the broken system at least. It's happened three times so maybe the fourth would be the straw that breaks the back.

I admit that I haven't been following everything close enough to be incredibly well-informed, but I'm pretty sure that I really don't want Hillary or Trump. So if one of the parties ends up nominating someone else, I'll probably vote for that person. But if it does end up being Hillary vs Trump, I don't know what I'll do.

3411765 Don't vote for Chris, He'll ban left turns in a heart beat! (Yes this is supposed to be a silly response I couldn't resist)

3411809 Agreed. Anyone is better than a Trump stamp, another Clinton or another Bush in the office. If Sanders can talk the talk, I wonder if he can walk the walk.

3411862
If there is a joke there, it went right over my head...

Kasich. He's my home governor and a lot better than people might think. He just gets... worked up easily.

3411805

Yeah I know every vote matters. It's never stopped me from getting out and voting. It's just frustrating that it seems like my vote doesn't matter. It's going to be an interesting race.

3411816

I agree. Get rid of the electoral college and go straight off the popular vote. That way it would seem that every vote would be heard.

3411801
With the EU falling to pieces as it seems to at the moment, a UK/Ireland friendly President would be handy.

3411769
'Call me Dave' is a prat, but are the rest any better?

3411788
3411767
3411760
It never ceases to amaze me how the US never manages to find a sensible policy for gun control, no mater what atrocities happen, but believe me you don't want ours. In the UK hand guns have been band since the late 80's yet there still regular shooting. A firearms certificate is required (A nightmare to obtain these days, involving extensive police checks) for any weapon with a muzzle energy over12ft lb, so anything bigger than a low powered air rifle and there plenty of calls to bring them 'on ticket'

3411872 The joke is that he is or was(?) the governor of New Jersey and it's nearly impossible to make left turns in Jersey.

3411888 I voted Milliband. But now Corbyn is head of labour we're all screwed

3411889
That's Why the joke went over me; I'm from Minnesota and know nothing about driving in NJ.

3411888 Well, considering people either want to totally eradicate guns from the states or literally arm everyone, I like to think my offered system is pretty fair and sensible.

3411891
Yeah, I'm surprised he got elected as head. I mean I'm not UK, but... still... wow

3411896 ikr :facehoof: I have no idea how

So far, the only candidate that has seized my attention is Bernie Sanders. Trump spouts whatever nonsensical stuff he can, in an effort to hopefully confuse you just enough that you'll vote for him, while Hilary is mostly seen as a pity case, where she'll get a lot of votes for being a woman, not for being a good choice. She also doesn't seem willing to bare her teeth.

Bernie Sanders is the guy who realizes that education, healthcare and other stuff in America are fucked up, and instead of trying to deflect attention to other issues like Immigration or such, he wants to finish the job that Obama started.

But y'know, I'm foreign, so my views are biased by the news I read

3411869 So far he has been walking the walk.

3411895 Gun control isn't the issue, it's mental health that is the issue.

3411912 Personally, I think all that's needed is a mental health check up every six months. Aside from that, there's not much you can do. It's kind of hard to keep people from going insane. :applejackunsure:

3411919 I agree with you there, That really is the only thing that can be done.

I just want a human being who is good-natured, respectable, has the common sense of an adult, wants to do good, for both our country and the world, and surrounds themselves with smart, competent people of like minds.

Unfortunately, as far as I know, those political candidates are extinct.:facehoof:

Idgaf really, seeing as I don't live in the US, but if I did, I'dd want someone that: Realized that human lives are not numbers on a page (Thusly Trump is out of the question.) and that we've only one shot on this earth, so throwing lives into the meatgrinder Isn't going to do anyone good.

3411895
I have no doubt of that, a half way meeting of our laws and yours with sensible checks would work for both nations, the problem we have is the nimby knee jerk brigade and I have no doubt that you would end up with the same problem we have, too much illegal and unregistered stuff that is near impossible to track or control. Remember that the UK has the highest levels of state surveillance in the western world and we can't get it right

3411891
Corbyn will be a good leader of the opposition, but I agree lousy as a PM. I considered Milliband, but was concerned that a vote for him could have meant Blair by the back door and we have had enough of him thank you very much!

3411966 interesting. But honestly I nearly voted Clegg

3411896
Basically, our politicians are even duller and possibly more corrupt than yours. It was a protest vote at the way our government is run.

Sanders is possibly the most grounded politician I've heard speak. He might be running as a Democrat, but he's really an Independent.

I can't trust Hillary, not because of the Republicans' fake email scandal, but because she panders more to the special interests, millionaires and billionaires more than the people she's supposed to represent.

I can't trust anyone running for the Republicans either. None of them know what's best for the people and they all pander to the NRA nutjobs, the fundamentalist "Christians" and the millionaires and billionaires. Trump might be spot on when it comes to the disgusting amount of money in politics, but he's guilty of buying politicians left and right. Jeb Bush claims to be his own man, but his policies reflect his brother's and GOP's Lord Reagan.

Under complete Republican rule, the Affordable Care Act will be gone and I'll be left uninsured... again and I'll probably end up dying from a seizure. Under complete Republican rule, we'll go from a democratic republic oligarchic government to full-blown theocratic oligarchic fascist government. Under complete Republican rule, the United States will be at war with everyone in the middle east and most likely instigate World War III.

I'll be voting for Bernie Sanders if he can make it through the primaries.

3411969
Ah. The tea boy. Voted Lib dem last time, never again.

3411995 I was too young to vote last time but I would have voted Clegg

3411956 Read up on Bernie then. He's, unlike most of the other candidates, actually human.

As a Canadian I can't vote for the US pre-season but we are having our own election in a few weeks and I know I'm voting for my conservative MP (our system is a little different than the US's. If I could it would most likely be Jeb as he seems to me the most level headed though I hear Kanye may be running in 2020 so fingers crossed.
