Into the Black, the Novel · 11:17pm Aug 18th, 2015
So, I had an interesting idea. I want to rewrite Into the Black as a legitimate novel, not a fan fiction. The role of Twilight would be replaced by a young sorceress from King Aurthur's Court, serving under Merlin. The intro will be similar, except Xander's spell will throw them through time as well as space. Obviously, this would also mean there will be no returning home for her. Also, I'll be removing the chaos lords as well as several other story changes and improvements. So, what do you guys think? Would that be something you would spend $5 USD on?
so you doing a fifty shades of grey on us?
Yeah I drop some money on that I would even drop 10 if it was a hard cover
3330102 I can't really afford that kind of publishing, so it'll probably be on Amazon's e-books.
3330050 Honestly, I'll just cut him out all together. His inclusion was a reward for the cover art, being the artist. I'd rather not have a character based on a real person in the book, as it can just cause all kinds of problems.
3330001 What do you mean?
3330123 fifty shades started life as fanfic
3330123 Fifty shades was a Twilight fanfiction first then became a novel with the references mainly removed...
All's cool still like the idea though
3330155 3330128 That explains why it was so bad. No, it won't just be the same thing, edited to remove references. It'll share some key moments, but much of it will be very different. For example, I'm not going the 'Nightmare' route, and she won't be a pilot. Also, obviously, the ending will be very different (can't invade her home when it was Earth 2000 years ago).
3330173 not only was it fanfic, but it was rewritten fanfic fueled by a midlife crisis.
3330258 Add on that that Twilight is crap, and you have the literary train wreck that is Fifty Shades of Gray.
3330291 bada bing
3330173 but seriously, I could see this taking off. If you ever do publish it, let me know. I'll definitely give it a try and then probably suggest it to my dad who loves sci fi even more than i do. I vote that you go for it.
After finishing dawn sheild, of course.
*Quietly makes sure he has a copy of the original*
3330305 Plus, it'll my first published novel... No pressure
That is exactly the kind of thing that I would read.
I would be happy to give you $5 to read that.
3330325 I'm not getting rid of the original
ill buy it, maybe with a copy or two
I'd buy it, I think it will be a good read when I travel
FUCKING SOLD
still better with ponies
3330768 Perhaps, but I would like to actually become a professional writer. That was the reason I started writing here, for practice.
3330786 nah its cool
i would gladly spend 5 $ USD, but unfortunately at the moment i can't, because i need to myself a computer
3330894 That's cool. Trust me, I know all about financial hardship.
I would buy it.
Still better with ponies though.
I say why not publish it as a fanfic? Past Sins did it, I think it was through Equestrian Publishing, so why not you? Your's would be one of the few fanfics that I would really consider buying.
3331294 Like I said earlier, I want to be a professional writer. To do that, I need something that would appeal to a larger group.
I'd buy it. The original was well written and you tell a great story, why would that change just because it isn't about ponies?
More people would get to read it, not just fans of MLP, and you already have a loyal fan base so go for it.
3333340 That was kinda my thinking when I had the idea. Heck, it'll be easier, since I don't have to remain within the confines of a world of another's design.
