Hello everyone.
It's been a long time since an update. I'm very sorry for that, but my partner is once again out of contact and has been since February. Now to clarify, I believe that he's okay. I've been monitoring his Youtube activity on Google + (the one thing it's good for) and he does leave comments. For whatever reason though, he's not getting in touch with me. I don't know why, but that's how it is. This is the reason for the hiatus.
Now, what does this mean for Dusk? Well, if I tried, I could probably get this latest book finished myself. But with regards to the rest of the series, I just don't know. A great deal of it is determined by Sci and his concept of the Beasts. There's a lot of aspects we never discussed, including future parts of the stories. The idea was really that we'd do it once we get to that point and talk about immediate chapters first. This has become so much bigger than just Dusk and honestly? I don't think I can do it on my own.
What are the options? Well, this is how I see it:
1) Finish this story and try to carry on the concept me and Sci outlined. As I said, I don't feel confident for this. In Sci's own words, it's an epic and one I don't think I could do alone.
2) Major rewrites. This would mean going back as far as Dusk Dawns and changing things to return towards the original plan I had before Sci came along. I could do this, but it would mean most likely writing out Ray Strike and the Demon Beasts completely.
3) Start Dusk again with a new set of stories. Take him in some new direction, possibly a new form. Move away from rewriting the shows and try to be more original. Again, this would mean moving away from everything I've built from the original series. They would still be on the site to be read, I'm not getting rid of them. But these would be new stories with the same pony and some new ideas hopefully.
I don't honestly feel comfortable with either option because it's not just my story anymore. It's mine and Sci's. It's also yours. My readers. You make me who I am, you make Dusk worthwhile and you should have as much say in what happens as anyone. I've picked up some truly dedicated fans and some good friends. I feel rather humbled for how far Dusk has come and how much I've grown personally as an author and writer.

I think a little of 2 and 3. Taking the story in its own direction would be interesting and seem more little your own work then simply subtly changing the episode plots. Also to be perfectly honest, while I like Naruto, or Ray Strike, the Kyuubi, or demon beasts felt like its out of place in the MLP universe.
In the end it's your own choice on the matter, so do what you think is best.
You do what you feel is best good sir. Like I said previously, this series was what made me want to write fanfiction for MLP, so I owe it and you both a lot. Take your time, we can all wait for such a good story after all, because when you two do get around to publishing it, we all know it's gonna be great.

MajorVidGamer here. I'm not sure what to think about these options. Does this mean Sci could be ignoring you for some reason, or he suddenly no longer cares about the stories? There's no way for us to know for sure unless he gets back in touch with you; I do hope that's not what it is. I suppose it would be our worst case scenario. As for the options, I think Option 2 would be the best to go with for now. You could try rewriting Dusk from Dusk Dawns while you also keep trying to get back to working with Sci. Personally, I didn't really like the kinds of Naruto features like the Demon Beasts, but they did allow for more interesting plots and features. There's also the building plot of Fallen Soul and the group he's been gathering. Anyway I do hope there aren't any unknown issues between you and Sci. The fact that he has been active on youtube while not keeping in contact with you, and maybe even ignoring any messages you send does concern me. I'll admit it also makes me feel a bit frustrated with him, but like I said: there's no way for us to know unless he does get back in touch. I really hope he does soon. When it all comes down to it, like some of the others are saying: Do what you think is best Alpha. Even though it would be dissappointing to see Dusk being changed, you would still have us as fans and I hope friends. I wish you the best of luck as always.
Actually, you should ask Sci first. Ask him if there's a reason he's not talking to you when you try and get in touch with hi.

To be honest I say wait for Sci. Dusk and Ray are your two's creation and I think if you did something like a major rewrite or removal of Ray, you would be left with feelings of regret. That is what I think. Good luck in the future. I hope you have a nice day.

While I would love for this series to get back to regular updates, you're right: Sci is as much the teller of this story as you are. I'd try writing out the chapters as you would and just send them off to Sci. Hopefully he'll get around to looking at them and come back.
