And with that, we are officially back in business!
Hello again everyone! As promised, here’s a bit more of what you can expect to see from the remaining content I have planned. But first, I want to address some changes that have been made to previous instalments. If any of you have been reading back through them, you may have already seen them. This is just to address them.
Firstly, Sparity has been edited out. By this, I mean the romantic paring of Spike and Rarity is no longer an element of the story. This is with the exception of what the show establishes i.e Spike’s crush on Rarity and the way she handles that in the series. But their relationship going forward is platonic in nature and has been edited to reflect that. Simply put, it’s an element I don’t want to have in the story anymore.
Secondly are some name changes, namely for a couple of the villains. Pian and Zhan have been renamed to Snick and Slash. Kossetsu has been renamed to Osteo.
Both of these changes, by and large, have no major impact on the overall plot and characters. Everything else is virtually as it was. Both the FiMfiction and FF.net versions have been changed to reflect these.
With that out of the way, let’s move on to new content.
There are 11 more chapters, including the one updated today, written for Ray of Dusk. These will be released weekly on Friday. If there is a shorter chapter that follows, this will be released on Sunday of the same week. I’ll let you know in the author notes if you can expect that. This will conclude that story.
The series itself will be concluded in one final instalment after the current one: Colours of Dusk. This instalment is still to be planned and written, which is why I’m updating weekly. I want to share what have and not make you wait, but also give myself time to write the next one.
This may seem surprising. The Dusk series has occupied a particular sun genre of FiM fanfiction. A new character, usually male, who joins the mane six and becomes the seventh element of harmony. Bonus points if they become romantically associated with one of the mane six. The Dusk saga is still in season 3, leaving 6 more seasons of content in theory.
This format will not be used for the last instalment.
The events of episodes remaining in season 3 will be referenced but not shown in their entirety. Certain characters and aspects will be drawn from later seasons for the Colours of Dusk, but the season events and episodes won’t be covered. I want this series to be ended the best way it can be and that doesn’t mean copy and pasting the transcripts from the wiki, converting script format into written prose and plonking in Dusk where needed. I want this to end on a high note for the characters and stories that have been portrayed in this saga. I also don't want to get too absorbed in writing for this series. Not that I haven't enjoyed it, but my goal is to give it a conclusion, not to have it be too lengthy and drawn out. It's already incredibly lengthy as it is.
