    An update.... of sorts

    So... yeah.

It's been a long time since I last updated any of my stories, and you deserve at least some sort of communication regarding that.

The truth is not really simple. A lot of things have happened to me since the beginning of this year. I've suffered a lot of real-life stresses, coupled with a break-up of a partner that took several months longer than it should have.

The next chapter of 'The Paragon Guard' is finished

    Hi all!

So, I'm not actually dead. I've just been really demotivated in my writing.

But, I've managed to finish the first draft of the next Paragon Guard chapter. This one does a little more world-building, and while starting off seriously it has a nice light-hearted ending

I'll need some time to finish editing and proof-reading.

Please bear with me! You'll get your Paragon fix soon!

Next chapter of 'One Year Later' is finished.

It's just going through some editing and proof-reading. I need to make sure that the grammar is correct, and that storyline-wise I haven't broken anything.

    Story isn't dead!

I'll be working on a chapter for Paragon Guard next. It's long overdue for an update.

One Year Later is (seriously) not dead! (Also, I need some extra editors and proof-readers : P)

This chapter took far longer than I wanted it to, and I'm so sorry for that.

I've finished the first draft of it, and it just needs some editting and proof-reading to make sure all my mistakes and errors are caught, lined up and shot for their crimes before the story is released to the wild.

I promise, I'll make sure they are given a proper funeral, first.

One Year Later is not dead

I all of you an apology, for the stupidly long amount of time it's taking for me to get the next chapter of One Year Later out.

I'm probably about 40% finished with writing it, and it will be longer than most other chapters.

In addition, I'm also writing another (admittedly very short) chapter for Dying Flame. It's actually a chapter I've wanted to write for it for a very long time.

Should I make the sequel to Dying Flame (One Year Later) its own story, or just add it as more chapters to Dying Flame on its own? · 4:42pm Jul 8th, 2015

So, yeah. I'm wondering what to do regarding this. Because if I post it up as its own story, then I'm potentially excluding a large portion of the existing readerbase, but it's still meant to be its own story.

So what are your guys opinions? Seperate story? Or Merge into one story?

*EDIT* Just to add on - I can link to the original, but some people might not know that the sequel has been posted as they won't get any update notifications. Maybe I'm just being a little paranoid.

Post it as its own story, but link it to the original.

As its own story.

I think it should be its own story, just so in emphasizes that a year has passed between events. Plus, Dying Flame felt like it ended on a high note, so adding more might ruin that feeling.

Own story, just give a link to the original

I've often seen other authors append a quick little paragraph with a link to the sequel in a new chapter. That way, the chapter shows up in their current reader's feed, and they can easily follow the link to the sequel. Alternatively, a blog post about the sequel tagged with the current story will also show up in the feed, so you could write a blog and link us to the story that way. For new readers, you want to be sure to include a link to the sequel in the description of the original (and vice versa).

Looking forward to the sequel! Good luck!

Definitely its own story. The narrative for Dying Flame ended; that story is done. Time to tell a new one.

I agree with them, but instead of just linking it to the original, make it a sequel to it

3219562 I agree, appending a paragraph to the last chapter of Dying Flame and making the sequel its own story would most likely be best.

You MIGHT write a kind of prologue chapter for the sequel and put it in both the sequel and at the end of Dying Flame. The copy in Dying Flame would have a link to the sequel in an AN at the end of the "preview chapter". This way those users that didn't follow you so they'd be notified of the release of the sequel get notified of a new chapter in the original that points them to the sequel and you don't have to "break" the ending of Dying Flame.

Just adding a paragraph or two to an AN in the current last chapter is unlikely to trigger notifications while a full new chapter probably would.

Unless you plan on posting a story longer than the one before then don't make a new story. I don't think it's worth it for one or two chapters.

Make it it's own story.

Make it it's own story, but add a chapter in Dying Flame just to let them know from there. Win/Win.

If it 3 chapters or more make it it's own story. 2 or 1 chapters just add it to the original

no, keep it going chapter wise, the current one feels unfinished, eat your spagetthi before you eat your chocolate debby cake
