OC Slamjam Round 3 - Extension · 7:03pm Jun 28th, 2015
Hey guys. Got some news that a few people are having trouble making the deadline again. I know I said I didn't want to do this earlier, but hey. The contest as a whole is something of an Ironman Writing Competition, so if bumping the deadline helps avoid dropouts, I'm happy to deliver.
This in mind, I'm pushing the deadline back a couple days, to 11:59 PM CST on Tuesday, June 30. Use the time wisely.
Have a nice day.
I had visions of it. They came to me in my dreams. In my chair I slumped, exhausted as I was from working on the project. Sinking into the fabric, I muttered to myself that I could get it done, until I drifted away, claimed by the quiet darkness. Then, as if by the will of an angry god, thunder cracked outside my window, waking me. My eyes shot open. The curtains billowed in the wind, and I felt a chill go through the room. I stood up, staring to the ceiling. Then, a smile tugged at the corners of my mouth. I knew then. I knew what would happen.
"Obs is going to extend the deadline again."
Coolio. I've been having some trouble with this round, so hopefully this will give me some time to work out the kinks in my story.
Well, I was fully confident I'd finish in the next...uh...little less than nine hours, but hey. As before, more time to polish is never a bad thing.
Good luck to everybody--let's have no drop outs this round, eh?
... I asked for an extension, then I managed to submit my fic well before I needed the extension.
And then I get an extension
*flips table.
By the way Obs, how much WC can you go over by? I went over a bit by about 150.
All extension and no publishing makes OC Slamjam a dull affair...

Obs did not want to put in any hard and fast amount. He said, roughly, thus: If it feels like you tried to keep it within the word count, he'd let it go. But if it felt like you weren't really shooting for the goal, that wouldn't fly.
Goddamn it. Again I almost kill myself pushing to finish by the deadline, and then this.
Oh, I wondered what the heck was going on with this.

You sure that wasn't just the taco bell you had before bed? I've heard it induces weird trance like visions... followed by diarrhea.
I'm a little disappointed that you felt you had to do this again, but I understand. Hopefully it won't come up in future rounds.

I considered this, but I eventually remembered that I don't like Taco Bell, nor most food for that matter, so I eliminated that possibility. The only reasonable explanation left is that I'm the next prophet.
The Third Testament will be coming out in stores sometime next year.

Does it praise the coming of our lord Fluttershy the Terrible who though sheer kindness will have the Earth bow before her?

It advocates a great many things, but I shan't reveal what. You'll have to buy it on release day.
3190932 Yeah, come on, 3190802, did you think he would lead us to salvation for free? The pyrotechnics and chemical engineering aren't cheap, you know.
Huh. I'm starting to think maybe the writing period should be lengthened for the remaining rounds. Maybe go with like ten days for the next round and bump it up by one day per round? I think it'd make sense, especially if the word cap keeps rising as it has been. Although it would make the contest stretch on longer and longer, so maybe not.
Either way, can't wait to read Round 3! Hoping this extension helps every author to polish their stories, if nothing else. Good luck, y'all!
