I think this is a power that cannot be deliberately invoked.
If you try to consciously control it, the power will deny you. Hence, awareness becomes a double-edged sword in your case.
If you write for the sake of writing, the power replies. If you write to use your power, the power remains silent.

You cannot directly appease the RNG Gods. You cannot beg, plead, or negotiate with them. Attempts to do so will inevitably result in getting even worse numbers from them. Hence, a treasure hunt that depends on "good numbers" will be repeatedly screwed over if one keeps hoping for a "good roll".
However, if you hunt for treasure for the adventure, or even for the simple thrill of slaughtering a dungeon, the RNG Gods may smile upon you. Hence, the luckiest people are the ones who pay little heed to the numbers; only to the fun.

Yeah coincdinc. Seriously though dude future sight ain't all its made out to be, believe me. When you twitch like your siezing and all you know from it "is something bad is going to happen" and you have an impossibly high percentage of being correct, it kinda gets a bit depressing after a while. Add being the heroic martyr bleeding heart type and your mental/emotional body becomes unrecognizable from all the scarring. Sorry to be a downer but I figure a heads up from experience is nicer than letting you tear yourself apart over a worthless curse of an ability.

I'm glad for the times I do so without my willies or my observational abilities or my random "I've never even done anything related to that subject yet I'm spouting off about it like I wrote the book on the subject" lecturing is in play.
