So... · 6:10pm Jun 13th, 2015

So I am going to need a bit of time to process what in the actual fuck just happened in today's episode.

I will admit though, the Mane Six getting locked out made me laugh.

It was a good episode!

But..but....I like it.:fluttercry:

I'm not saying its bad, it was actually funny at times I just... I dunno, it was weird.

Well, other than the producers apparently starting to run out of ideas..... it was good episode.

Confirmed and shattered headcanon?

3145505 They made the episode because the people asked for it! God, why is it that whenever DHX tries to do something for the fans, it's seen as either creative bankruptcy or a money-grabbing ploy?

3145492 Oh course it's weird, it has the Doctor bowling with the big Labosky as a pony!

3145530 I can see what's the fan part of the episode, but... really? by doing this episode, they either yell two things: one, the want to please the fans or two: They realized that the season plot is starting to get a little loose, and needed some filler episodes while they figure out the next season.

3145553 I don't see how pleasing the fans is a bad thing. It's a double win: The fans get what they've been asking for, and the writers get more time to figure out the story-arc for the season(s).

Other TV series have been known to do single episodes that shoutout to the fans or production crews. This episode was filled with tidbits of characters and backstories that we've only glimpsed at. It essentially piled them all into one 22 minute episode. The result was... actually not bad. I found it one of the more enjoyable slice-of-life episodes out there.

Let's be honest at least it's not another episode about the CMC trying to find their butt-marks.

Pretty weird and crazy episode but I really liked it, I liked that they just let loose and went a bit crazy, good episode in my opinion.

Am I wrong?
'No Tofty, you're not wrong.'
Am I wrong?
'No Tofty, you're not wrong, you're just an a**hole.'

The episode was practically a giant tribute episode to the fandom which keeps the series going while also sending the message in how connected to the fandom they are.

Its a 100 episode special. They did something special for the fans.

3145492 Character traits were nice.

And on this day the fandom exploded, and all was well in the world.

Highlights:

- Gummy's existential crisis
- The fucking changeling
- Shiny being super gay
- Mane Six doorslam
- Stephen Magnet being kind of an awesome douche
- Forgetful princess horse
- Lebowski, maaaaan

3146950 To be fair, Gummy's internal monologue absolutely made the episode for me. I was not ready for it. Do wish the writer's stopped making Shiny useless. Although I did like Derpy's characterisation.

3145518 Well having Lyra and Bon Bon and Octavia and Scratch just be friends is a headcanon confirmation, but otherwise no, it was just, really fucking weird.

3145558 Fan pandering is not necessarily a win-win, not all fans want the same things afterall. Fan pandering did not neccessarily work out to everyone's approval in the Legend of Korra when the writer's decided to listen to what their tumblr fans were saying after all. This is nowhere near the levels of bullshit involved in that but it serves as a useful example of how it can go very badly.

3145897 I will grant you, I am rather sick of the CMC right now.

3146128 Well it was amusing in the sense the action never stopped.

Given the fact that the characters literally jumped the shark

I cant help but think that this episode was made to be nothing more then a goof.

Can't please everyone. And you can never please neckbeards.

More peeks at Tia and Lulu acting like proper sisters.

3146128 Upon sleeping I have re-evaluated my opinion of the episode. I actually expected more from it, I wanted something with a little more depth for each character rather than just throwing in references from here there and everywhere, fandom or otherwise, and the Octavia-Vinyl mashup made me cringe in a way I haven't cringed at the show in years. Also I didn't like the secret identity thing with Bon Bon and would have preferred they just left the Lyra-Bon Bon ship alone rather than hinting at a relationship with Lyra's eyes giving it all away.

I still quite liked it, especially the Princess scenes, but I actually wanted so much more instead of constant fan service, but I didn't hype myself for the episode at all and I barely watch the show these days anyway so I can handle it.

A lot of people love the 100th episode for the large amounts of fan pandering. A portion of people think this episode sucks because of the fan pandering. There doesn’t seem to be much recognition that this episode actually has a point, unlike Double Rainboom, which threw a huge amount of references with a ‘morale’ tacked on at the end.

If someone were to view this episode in an internet culture-free vacuum, like a young child, or someone a decade after FiM’s finale, there actually is a lesson it’s trying to teach. Everyone is a star in their own series. Even though the issues people face aren’t objectively equal, every person you pass on the street is currently working towards the most pressing thing in their life. Life as we know it is flitting in and out of the timelines of OTHER people. When we come together in a social event, it’s all of us simultaneously existing in each other.

Look above the red line. Then listen to this. Believe me, they know what they’re doing.

3152912 Yeah, not interested about other people's opinions, I just made a note of what I think, because we could talk here for centuries about smallest and least important details of the show, like the fact that you see something very familiar in every single MLP:FIM episode.
