I ain't dead yet! · 11:30pm May 1st, 2015
Hi there, everyone!
Something that I've noticed is that, when you're really busy, it's incredibly easy to let the days just slip on by. As strange as it may seem, it wasn't until I got a couple of messages asking if I was still alive that I realized I haven't put much out there, recently.
When people have to poke you to make sure you're not a corpse, that's a pretty clear indication that maybe, just maybe, you should do something to let folks know you're still alive.
A quick update on what's going on with Harmony: I have chapters 17 and 18 in editing, and I'm pretty close to being happy enough with them to release them. I have chapter 19 in development, and I'm having a blast with it!
I also have several chapters of my Harmony - Side stories in editing, and I'm working on several more. Hopefully, one day soon, I'll be flooding you guys with all sorts of new chapters! Moving the bulk of the slice of life stuff to their own side-story seems to be working, as far as that goes.
So, what's been keeping me so busy? Well, it's primarily work, right now. This spring and summer are the time for big projects, it seems. We've got just enough staff at work to handle the day-to-day work, but when these huge projects come along, that means we're all putting in the overtime, including many weekends. So, between a lack of time to write and feeling completely drained when I do have time, I haven't been keeping up with the output I'd like to. For that, I apologize.
I have so many stories I want to write. In addition to Sunflower, I have several other stories planned. Maybe one day I can even get to them
The good news is, I talked my manager into letting me take the day off, today. It made me realize how much I needed some "me" time. Don't get me wrong, my wife is very supportive of how much I want to be a writer, and she's very good about giving me the time I need to write. Still, relationships need a certain amount of maintenance, which cuts into my already rare free time.
So I took the day off to treat myself, and part of that was going to see the new Avengers movie all by myself. The rest of the day so far was filled with idle goofing around and some chapter-poking for the Sunflower side stories. It's amazing how much better I feel after being lazy and selfish for a day!
Anyway, I'm going to get back to it. Maybe I can get a few thousand more words done, today. I'll talk to you guys later!
~Hoopy
p.s. The Avengers movie was good! I'd rank it behind both the first one and Guardians of the Galaxy, but that still makes it the third-best superhero movie by a very large margin.
Glad to hear you're doing well, and I hope you continue to enjoy your "you" day!
Good to know you're still with us . Also good to know you're taking care. Sounds like you're having a great day!
Also happy for the movie review. I've been thinking about that one for a while.
It's not poking sticks that are the problem; it's when people start sticking a mirror under your nose...
P.S.: Glad you're alive.
It's cool, man! Your stories are worth the wait. I felt the same way actually - been meaning to shoot you a note but there's always one thing or another that comes up and I put it off another week.
I am so behind on your story xd
Oops yeah, I think we can all relate to that one.
Always good to get away from life's problems and enjoy a bit of me time.
I got a last minute call to see the new Avengers in IMAX, felt like they were trying a little to hard to beat the first one and some bits just didn't work for me, still, it was a very enjoyable movie and definitely worth watching.
*slides a little cake over* here, it helps relax to have something sweet to eat.....
Yay life!
woo not dead! To be honest, I didn't really notice, because I too am really busy. Of course more chapters made by you is always appreciated, as you are in my top three favourite fanfiction writers, but busy days are busy. To be honest I've been saving up the last 5 chapters (12-16) of project harmony: sunflower for a special treat when I do decide to sit down and read them.
Cheers
And yet all three are just not worth it for me at all...
see this is a good update that has everything an update should.
