At least Show apparently realizes that Spike as depicted is an archosaur (like Gummy, though draconian rather than crocodilian) rather than an anapsid reptile (like Tank).

Of known archosaurs, crocodilians hibernate, avians don't. We don't know whether dinosaurs did or didn't. Dragons seem to go into occasional long slumbers that have little to do with the weather, based on show canon.
