I found a writer's block! · 8:41pm Apr 15th, 2015

Just a little one. Not much of an obstacle, when you think about it.

I'm hard at work on chapter 2 for Minoan Crisis. I have pretty much zero else to do this week (study for finals? what planet do you come from?), so it shouldn't take too long. Yesterday was a slow one, due to that little block. It wasn't so much that I didn't know what to write as that I didn't feel like writing it. We're past it now.

Research! Research is fun! Here's a little taste of what I've been doing for y'all:

500 laps around a circle of radius 18 pony lengths=113.1 pony lengths, roughly 11 seconds per lap
if a pony is four feet long, 452.4 ft
41.1 ft/sec or 28 mph
Total distance in 500 laps: 226,194.7 ft or 42.8 miles in 5500 seconds or 91.7 minutes or 1.5 hours

Rainbow Dash and Lightning Dust can manage a pace of about 30 mph for at least an hour and a half, or 40-45 miles, without strain.

They're seriously only going 28 mph? Huh. Not exactly what I'd consider record-breaking. But it is kinda impressive when you consider that exercise took them an hour and a half. I can only imagine how long it would take the rest of the cadets.

Anyway, that's my life right now. Thanks for reading my stuff. Spread the word, this fic has gotten much less exposure so far than my other ones. Every mention helps!

EDIT: Go read this, please.

Seems pretty slow... like Fluttershy's pace. To be honest, I would think that RD would actually fail at that. She would fall asleep from the boredom of going too slow.

Oh, I love that whole 'math' stuff. It's great.

we'll say that gold is 12 times as expensive
= 800,004 bits per tonne of gold
means 1 gram of gold = 0.800004 bits
but x3.5 = 2.8 bits!
gold needs to be less expensive, seeing as bits look like
they're about 10 grams at least
800004/10 = 80,004, / 1M = 0.08bits per gram
0.08 x 12.5 = 1, so
1 bit = 12.5grams if 1 tonne of gold = 80,004
so now 1 silver needs to be worth 1/6 of a gold
so... 80,004 / 6 = 13,334
that's if
so 13,334 bits = 1 tonne of silver (1000kg, 1M grams)13,334 bits = 1 tonne of silver
80,004 bits = 1 tonne of gold
there is a 10 mil debt which was covered in aprrox 5 years
so, 149.8 tonnes of silver were mined every year

Though this diddy about silver mines just sounds like crazy-talk.

Yeah 30 mph doesn't seem incredibly fast, but think about it: have you ever tried to run a two minute mile? Ever tried to catch a car moving at 30 mph? Could you keep up for an hour and a half?

3005453 That part is a little more impressive, yeah. And all the other cadets were going super slow. And they weren't even tired at the end!
