Great 80s and extras! · 5:42am Mar 27th, 2015
Okay, first off, if anyone here knows about The Mysterious Cities of Gold, congrats to you. For those who don't it was a cartoon made back in the 80s, that got realsed on dvd i'm not sure when, that i only learned about late last year when it started playing on NiTV.
It features a boy named Esteban, a word that means "Child of the sun" and his friends as they travel through the americas in search of The Mysterious Cities of Gold, meeting giant men, amazons, Spaniard and many others along the way.
Yesterday, after work, i managed to buy a collection of the whole series. All 39 episodes! SWEET! I've spent the last couple weeks trying to tape the episodes off my settop box, most episodes being recorded after they'd started due to my buses not getting me home quickly enough after work.
And, even though i technically wouldn't have had that problem before finding the collection anyway, seeing as i'd finished taping it this week, i now don't have to worry about taping it at all, because i've now got it on dvd and have so far loved it.
this show was also good because it taught things about those lands that are very insightful and not pandering like other show of today tend to be when adding a little education into the mix.
There even a movie being made based on the series, part one being titled Child of the Sun.
If you haven't heard of or watched The Mysterious Cities of Gold before, i highly recommend it. True, it has a few problems at times, but then, it's an 80s cartoon. it would be creepy if it didn't.
Second, today i found something that may interest you, maybe it won't, it depends on how open minded you are.
For those who don't know, DORA The Explorer got a spin off, featuring dora living in a big city and being a teenager instead of the seven year old we all know. They had a special of this called Dora's Explorer Girls Our First Concert, which guest stared Shakira as herself.
However, there is a second part to this, a series that followed dora living in the city called Dora and Friends Into the City. It's not bad. i've only been able to watch a few episodes because finding them on youtube is bloody hard, but it seems good. better than most other educational shows i know these days.
If your interested and wish to check it out Search Dora and Friends on youtube. It takes a bit of searching, but you can find at least seven episodes (one being in two parts).
Now, if you'll excuse me, i'm going to try finishing some more of chapter 6 of the fic i am linking to this blog.
thanks for listen and, Later
Uh, you do realise that "Esteban" is just the Spanish name for "Stephen", right?
2917954 true, but in the show that's what they say his name means. it's not really true, but i didn't pay attention to that
