Dan Vs. Lightning Claw: A Future Adapted · 7:32pm Mar 16th, 2015
Um… hi. I'm Lightning Claw and I'm a… well, I guess I'm a FIST representative. That's uh, Future Integrations Stable-Tec, Vice Grip's company. I don't really know what my position here is but I'm kind of Vice's bodyguard or something. I guess that makes me part of FIST.
I've been here for about four years or so. I used to be Ponyville's weather manager… well, until the accident. I was trying to develop a way for pegasi to control clouds without having to push and kick them all over the sky, maybe even find a way to do it remotely. My friends told me that it wasn't worth it because only unicorns can do magic. But I found out about zebra potions and decided to try to see if I could create a potion to make me into an alicorn or something. Then, I could use magic and move the clouds with spells.
That's kind of how the accident happened. I tried to combine some zebra potions with our own technology for making clouds. They told me it was too dangerous but I just wanted to see if it could work. And it WAS working for a while. I had my own horn and I could use magic just as good as any unicorn! I was practically a prince! So they were wrong; there was a viable option for integrating pegasus technology and zebra magic together. They were just too afraid to use it.
But then… something went wrong. I lost control of the weather and soon, this huge storm started forming over Cloudsdale. I tried to stop it but it grew too fast. There was an explosion and I blacked out. Two weeks later, I woke up in Ponyville General and my horn was broken. But Cloudsdale was okay. Except I was fired.
I lost everything. Just because I tried to make life easier, just because I TRIED to make Equestria a better place, I WAS FIRED. They kicked me out because they said what I did was dangerous but did any pony else get hurt?! NO! Just ME! And now I have to walk around with this broken thing attached to my head like I'm some kind of freak! I WAS TRYING TO HELP!! IS THIS HORN NOT ENOUGH?!!
Sorry… it still hurts sometimes. Vice Grip gave me this medicine to help with the headaches and to try to get my powers under control. I just… everything is so confusing now. Vice says he's like me but ponies don't think he's some kind of mutant pegasus or something.
Anyway, I met Vice after being discharged from the hospital. My magic is gone, mostly. I can still use electricity to some extent but that's only really good for making thunderstorms. Vice keeps telling me to do stuff, he calls me his "personal enforcer" which pretty much means his bodyguard and he says that I'll get my job back one day if I help him. He says that what FIST is doing is just like what I tried to do and that the reason my plan didn't work is because the princesses won't allow other types of magic around. They don't want to help Cloudsdale or any pony else.; they just want to keep the way things are because they're in control. And it makes sense because the only times they're ever in Cloudsdale is for some event or something, never to check to see if things are okay. Or if they could be better.
I keep getting these blackouts though, especially around Vice so I don't know why he wants me to be his bodyguard. Sometimes I don't even realize it. It's hard to explain: someone will ask me what I was doing at a specific time and it'll be like I think I can remember at first but when I think back there's just… nothing. Blank. I wouldn't want to just blackout and hurt any pony. But Vice has faith in me and… honestly, I kind of need that support. When every pony else turned their backs on me, he and the Director were there.
I don't know much about Vice. Mostly, he works on the Magic Gears in the Prosperity factory. I hangout in Stable 5, this underground shelter Stable-Tec built outside the mountain. There's a lot of other guards but they don't talk much and all wear this same weird suit of armor. And the Director… is really creepy. He's really good at Galaga though and I keep trying to get him to play Xbone with me but he never does.
What else… oh! Because I'm kind of Vice's partner, I can go anywhere in Stable 5. I don't really get why there are so many of these "stable" things. Why would any pony need so many basements? But Vice says they're important and there's a lot of them all throughout Equestria. The weird thing is, he didn't even build them. Stable-Tec built the stables themselves but then went bankrupt and Vice bought them out and made FIST. So it's like somepony was already planning on using them for something.
Vice is kind of a weird guy but he's nice. And he wants to do the right thing, we just have to do it without the princesses or Twilight's friends knowing it. He says it's like we're planning a really big surprise party for them. So it's like we're just trying to do what's right and make Equestria better in secret because the princesses don't want anything to change. But things keep changing on their own, beyond their control. Which means we need a new system so we should give FIST a try.
The Magic Gears are really cool, too. I like to name them what I think they'll be good at but Vice thinks that's silly sometimes. Vice mostly keeps to himself but we do stuff sometimes, mostly building things. He likes my ideas and a lot of his inventions are really cool. We eat in the complex under Prosperity Mountain most of the times, we order pizza or rely on the foods grown in the hydroponics lab.
There's all these armored dogs working on stuff all the time, Vice calls them Metal Hounds. They're like a tribe or something. And ever since Captain Springer joined us, we have a lot more ponies around, too. They wear all this cool armor and Vice says he's making some for me, too but it's a special set. Tester or Tesler or something, he calls it. Something to really power-up my electric powers, which is really cool. This means I'll be able to really hit back at Dan for beating me in the Everfree. That… I might be looking forward to. My brothers might even help: they're ponies with special powers like me but they volunteered. Maybe one day, when I get my job back, we can make the potion I made available to all ponies.
Anyway, that's pretty much it. Sorry this was kind of long but I had a lot on my mind and I felt like you should know how things were. Also, I wanted to give a shout out to my dad Warrior Kitten! Hi dad! I'm going to go make some Trot Pockets now. We just got the ones with barbecue oates, hay bacon and cheese! Good stuff. This also makes me scared about Vice's plans, is he going to create Fallout: Equestria? I certainly hope not!
We already know he plans to overthrow the Princesses, but what will he do with them?
What will happen to Dan, Chrys, Fluffe and the Mane 6?
Who is the Director? Why is he doing this?

Lightning has seen a lot of things and is privy to information most of the other main characters aren't. His own unique views are ways of subtly revealing more about what's coming.
