Goodbye dear Sir Pratchett. · 3:33pm Mar 12th, 2015

I know tons of folks will be making these blogs but I felt I needed too.

Sir Terry Pratchett's works have been a part of my life since I was very young. I can still vividly remember finding one of his books on my uncle's bookshelf and falling utterly in love.

Thank you for the words and imagination. You will be missed.

So sad to hear of his passing.

Oh. Well that pisses me off.

I got my first Pratchett book as a freebie in a swag bag at a WorldCon, I think it was Confederation in Atlanta.

The book was Equal Rights and I was utterly charmed, not least by the Cagney-and-Lacey crimefighting team of Chaucer's Wife of Bath and the Wicked Witch of the West done over as a good guy.

And, of course, Death, a fellow trying, sometimes wearily, just to do his job.

His stuff became quite sophisticated but never lost that happy quality of charm. One could do far worse. Peace to his memory.

I think Night Watch remains my favorite, but Small Gods is a close second.
