Dear Cold. Please get the fet outta my lungs and off my wind pipe. I do not find your magical dancing near my larnax and trachea to be as entertaining as you think it is. Your friend the Virus That Caused This has stopped playing with my body's thermostat, and now sits quietly in a corner waiting to be fully booted away. Why can't you do the same? There's only so much Quil I can have, Cold. Only so many cough drops I can suck on.
Oh, I get it. This is cosmic irony isn't it? Heartbreak is sick, so I have to get sick just a few days after I let my new book be published, and continue being sick until she gets better in the story.
Well, fetting fettie fet fet Fet-loops, Cold! Stop making me cough and feel like an abused crudmuffin in the forgotten and unwashed stall of a seedy truck-stop bathroom that hasn't been tended to in over five years! The sooner that Heartbreak is well, the sooner I'll be well!

Well... Use it to improve your writing. Make that cold serve you, show it that you're the boss... Or just use HB to tell it that you/(s)he is the boss... It can't read words so you can do it without risking pissing it off.

Keep close tabs on your symptoms. There is something that is similar to a cold going epidemic this year but much, much worse, Enterovirus D-68. It will feel like the worst cold ever, and then try to close off your lungs with mucus and spasms like asthema. I've definitely had it twice over the past 10 years, from the
infectious vermin... err, nieces and nephews.The congestion may persist for a month and WILL turn into pneumonia if the docs dont get aggressive about treating it.
If the coughing and congestion isn't gone in 2 weeks after the other symptoms leave you, go to the docs FAST.
In the meantime, along with whatever Cold and Flu medicine you are taking, Zinc and Echinasea (500 milligrams each, twice a day. for no more than 2 weeks) are now your best friends for the duration.
Oh the horrible irony, hope you get better soon.
But this raises a intriguing question. I wonder how different stories would end up if the author had to suffer the same things the protagonist does. Not living out the story but the base good/bad things that happen. A cold for a cold, finding X amount of money, being arrested, finding love, dieing. I'd think stories would be nothing but crappy wish fulfillment and very very good suicide notes.
