Data-Scientist-in-Training and voracious fic reader. Occasionally edits/proofreads for people he likes, and even publishes story chapters once-in-a-blue-moon. Thinks he's a reneighssance pone.

Hearth's Warming never happened: The three tribes went their separate ways instead of uniting. Royal Chef Amber Spice is a mostly model Unicornian citizen, but now she's getting exiled from the land. How'd she manage that?

Updated Intro · 2:57am Oct 13th, 2014

Showed Tastes Likes Heresy to a friend who's a good writer, and he liked it pretty well. He pointed out that my intro was problematic, though, and gave me some general tips.

Accordingly, the first chapter has been improved and updated. It's better at grabbing attention, showing emotion, and giving a bigger hint at Spicy's personality. I like it.

Go ahead and check it out, and let me know if you like the improvement. I may end up going through the whole fic, making improvements and maybe even doing heavy reorganizations, but not right now. I'm working on Desert Spice as my main project (it's not dead yet!), and I'm happy with what I'm writing right now. Life's been crazy, as it is wont to be, but I'm still here and I'm still writing.

Peace!

Woo~

I'm a fan of things I like getting better and stories that are incomplete not being dead. This blog wins on several levels.

Cool!

I will certainly check out the new updates.

Hm. I'm afraid I'm not sure when/if I'd find the time to-- Oh, wait, it's less than 1.6 kilowords. Let's seeā€¦
Well, I don't see any particular problems with it. I don't recall any particular problems with the old first chapter, though (it was, after all, good enough to get me reading and enjoying the story), and I don't recall any details to make comparisons about. Sorry.

I'm pleased to hear that Desert Spice is still getting attention, by the way. :)
I hope that your life either gets less crazy or gets crazy in some good way.

Glad to hear you're glad to hear it! It's always refreshing knowing that people are still looking forward to new installments.

Thanks! Don't be afraid to supply your opinion, either.

A wise man once said, "A work of art is never finished, only abandoned." Thanks to the wonders of the digital age, all it takes is a friend setting a fire in my brain for a temporarily abandoned work to get the love it deserves. :raritywink:

I hope my life becomes less crazy, but more interesting at the same time. Yes, I want to eat my cake and have it for later, too.
