Well, it took me a long time, with the school starting up and working remaining the same, but I was finally able to track a four day lull in the comments, so I tallied them up and got some surprising results. I know now who is going to be the new teacher for Octy and her wings, but I have to say, the pale horse almost took this one, almost.
The new teachers are....
Princess Luna and Derpy Hooves!
The tally totals, as said, were rather close, and with a surprising placing for a certain canary coated pegasus.
Spitfire = 22
Princess Luna = 36
Ditzy "Derpy" Hooves = 33
Fluttershy = 19
Rainbow Dash = 15
Gotta apologize to Rainbow Dash now. Apparently almost no one wants to be taught by the fastest pegasus in Equestria. But hey, apparently Fluttershy is popular enough to overtake her friend in a poll she wasn't even included on. I never would have guessed!
Well, I finishing up a chapter of Pangur Ban, followed closely by OLG, then Octavia's flight lessons will begin! Or may another in medias res thing. I don't know yet, but the latter option at least keeps to pacing without random jumps in time mid-chapter. Those are harder to smooth over.
Thank you all again for your patience and look forward to seeing the newest alicorn in Equestria being taught by the Immortal Princess of The Night! And the local mail mare with depth perception issues... This is gonna be so much fun!

Shy got more votes than Rainbow without participating uh? Only one thing to say:
I feel like a lot of people just chose Luna and Derpy because of the fact that they were there. Obviously there's no way to prove that, but at least in Derpy's case, I don't see much reason for her winning other than people either going off their own personal headcanon or choosing her just because she's Derpy.
Luna, I could see much more, seeing as she's a being with not only similar wings and such, being an Alicorn, and one with much experience at that.
Ah well, nitpicking. The readers chose.
Though I AM a bit annoyed that so many people chose a pony that wasn't even included in the pole instead of a legitimate choice.

Being taught by the fastest flyer in Equestria? Maybe. But you'd also be being taught by the pony who decided a good way to screen for somebody worthy of being her pet would be to fly them through a death gorge filled with giant carnivorous eels. A pony who did not have the foresight in weather training for screening for illness and almost flubbed a crucial resource for Equestria chasing after a record. A pony who abandoned her obviously weaker team instead of training them and only turned around and decided to carry them at the very last minute.
A bad teacher, in other words, whatever her achievements might suggest.
Should have known that the two most popular characters in the fandom would win... I'm still adamant that Spitfire would be the most logical choice..

Wow... someone really doesn't like Rainbow Dash. Everyone(Everypony in this case) makes mistakes; Rainbow Dash just has a bit harder of a time learning from them, but she DOES learn.
Besides, ultimately, the show would be boring as hell if every character had a spotless record.
2435167 And this has what to do with the fact that Dash has a horrible track record for teaching and leadership and therefore would likely be a bad teacher/leader?
For the record, I'd be every bit as disinclined toward a flying character I like who has shown a lack of instructional capability before. Heck, my favourite character on the show, Twilight, would be a terrible teacher for flying for anything but the theory because she has repeatedly been shown to lack experience and understanding of how the muscles work.
