The Wizard of Words

Come what may and test what will, I always find peace in some form of writing. Be it famous, hidden, or simply my own, it is and forever will be a sanctuary.

    My Watcher Count broke 1100...

Well... gotta say that with my usual inactivity on this site now it is kinda surprising. Not saying I've given up writing or anything, just haven't been nearly proactive in making up new stories/chapters as I would have been half a year ago. But hey, I guess what I already made up is just that exciting. That always feels nice.

    Wizard, Where'd You Go?

Okay, not a big update, not a major explanation, nothing catastrophic happening. Promise.

Mainly, I'm just very busy. I have three jobs, working on a thesis project for my Biomedical Engineering Masters, writing five stories at once right now, and working on a joint project with another writer on this site (that will come up later).

Which Story Sounds Best To You?

While I know many people may be sick of the fan requests at this point, it's less of how a story will develop and more of what one I should pursue first. Which Story Sounds Best To You? · 12:20am May 21st, 2015

While I know many people may be sick of the fan requests at this point, it's less of how a story will develop and more of what one I should pursue first. Because honestly, I have outlines for all of them, artwork for all of them, and will probably write all of them at some point in time. The whole purpose of this short hiatus is to write something DIFFERENT, but there are so many different kinds of different that I need to know what would be most interesting form of different to read.

So what's different enough?

#1: Chaos Theory

Basically for this one, Chaos Theory is an character study of Discord, and to a point, Celestia and some other ponies. Maybe a bit long for a one-shot, but that's not atypical for me to do. The purpose here is to make sure I can actually describe characters and their motives without ACTUALLY stating them. Exposition dumps are a big no-no in modern writing, and what better way to challenge myself against that then to explain Discord's, love of chaos? Try and explain a creature that loves chaos but hates change, TRY IT!

#2: Nothing's Impossible

Obvious AU is obvious, and a nice change in trying to write "new" characters in a NEW setting. The characters actually "belong" to an artist name Ambris, who made Twilight an MMA (Magical Martial Arts) fighter and Dash a research Doctor (specializing in strengthening pegasus wings). While it may seem like typical Twidash with a bit on the swapped perspective front, it will differ in that it is Anthro, which is different, but not always a good different. It IS, however, a great story to see how well I can describe a brand new world, set of characters ranging from Celestia to Discord, in all of one chapter. World building fun!

#3: Some Day Your Bird Is Gonna Fly

Okay, out of all the different stories I have, this is the most normal. Just straight up ship, but with two characters I actually LOATHE to ship. So this comes down to being more like self-torture as a way to make my mind get over the hump its stuck on and write more Twidash. Hey, it's worked before, at least in my dreams. Which is where majority of this story will take place, in dreams. That's a hint, maybe in your dreams. Hint hint.

Vote as you like. Or don't. I don't mind. Really. Not at all...

Option... Two.

Because I enjoy role reversal and worldbuilding.

Sweet, sweet worldbuilding...

Definitely option #2

Option #1. with #2 as a close second.

I was prepared to vote for #1 but then I read the description of #2 and it stole the show.

option 2.... followed by option 1

I'll take 2. Yep, 2

well, between 1 and 2... they're about the same. either would be nice

The Discord one

I do still kinda hate you for it, you know, more ideas upon my library full of possibilities.

Your avatar just says it all.

One or two, probably one. I think they both sound like good exercises, while 3 is more or less just making you dislike the work you're doing, which I don't see much benefit to besides adaptability, which you still get with the other two.

Personally I'd be more interested in two but I think one has more potential. In any case, should do well.

At the risk of sounding blasphemous...

I've got the whoooole world, in my hands, I've got the whooole world, in my hands, I've got the whooooole world, in my hands, I've got the whole world in my hands~

Fun fact: The songs from Bastion are played with the guitar tuned to CGCFGC, save for The Pantheon which is tuned to EBEABE. However, all four songs can be reasonably played in Drop D.

Option 2. because role swap, anthro and TwiDash <3

It's an interesting concept, but hasn't been touched up very much. Who better to write a story like this, than you, The Wizard of Words?

You're a pre-reader, so your vote counts as two...

*Shrug*

One has been done to death, If I recall right, although I don't think it has been done by a writer of your caliber. (For some reason, Fluttercord stories love to do this, when they aren't shoving the ship down the reader's throats.)

Two has been done as well. Maybe not in that package, though. Less common, certainly, and with you, It'd be amazing as usual. But... It just feels shoo-ed in. Make Twi basically a unicorn Dash and make Dash a pegasus Twi? Why not mix it up even more? The sky's the limit!

Three is, well, Three. It's less the story you're gonna tell it seems, but the reason to write it. If anything, I'd think that, if you wrote three, and it did what you wanted it to, that would be the best for your Twidash fans, anyway.

I guess, for my vote, three. Just because it's not the story you're gonna tell, but the why you're gonna write it. I'd rather have the story that might help you with what you desire, than get a story that you had to force yourself write, because of lack of passion.

Maybe I'm over thinking it. Eh, either way, that's my vote. I choose three.

Option 1 sounds like the most technically interesting and I'd love to see your take on writing Discord.
