A discussion over whether crêpes count as real food results in Rarity and Applejack making a bet, with the loser having to spend a day helping the winner with their job. Do the pair have ulterior motives in wanting to spend more time together?

Breakfast for Dinner · 3:30am Aug 23rd, 2014

I went out to dinner tonight with my family at a restaurant called Elmer's - for the unenlightened, it is a chain somewhat similar to Denny's, serving breakfast, all day in addition to lunch and dinner. Nothing special or particularly good, but, well, you know what you're getting when you go there.

So I go there, and I sit down with my menu, and I start going through it. And what do I see but crêpes - two varieties, in fact, one filled with fruit, the other with... I don't even remember. And I was thinking, "Man, that looks good, but eating crêpes for dinner?"

And then it hit me. I can't consider crêpes a serious meal food anymore. I have ruined them for myself forever by writing that story. And I can't even explain why to my parents, as I'm sitting there staring at the menu, that there is a food on there I can just no longer take seriously.

But, eh, it was worth it.

For the record, I ended up getting french toast and feeling disappointed.

Said everyone who has ever eaten at a Denny's style restaurant.

Surprised they had crêpes, though. Crêpes aren't usually a "Denny's style" food. (If they even are real food, apparently)

10/10 blogpost.

Except the people that eat at actual Denny's. They get Lumberjack Slams, if they know what's good for them. And their arteries.

What the hell do you need to take seriously? You order them, you eat them, they are tasty. That is all.

Alas, it is true.

I was a bit surprised, but crepes are super easy to make, so maybe I shouldn't be.

Yeah... I haven't eaten at an actual Denny's in... gosh, probably 7 years now.

It just feels wrong to me, like I was ordering an appetizer or dessert for dinner. :applejackunsure:

2393327 Still failing to see the problem.

I've ordered appetizers for dinner many times. As for dessert for dinner, there's no rule against it :P

Do what makes happies!

I get that. Last year I had something called Fried Apples at this one restaurant while I was in Florida. It was practically a dessert with whatever sweet stuff they drenched the apple slices with.

Not saying it was bad though; it was amazing actually.:pinkiehappy:

Ah, good old Southern food. Where everything is fried and has sugar in it. Sometimes both at the same time.

I enjoy sweet tea and I have to confess that I am constantly tempted to make myself some deep fried ice cream. :applejackunsure:
