Dealing with some health problems. · 4:07am Jul 25th, 2014
So in the past few months I have been, admittedly, putting less work into From Scratch than I should have been, but right now I am even less certain how much time I can put into it.
Long story short, I've been dealing with more kidney issues recently, and I recently got referred to a doctor who specializes in kidneys and kidney problems. This hints that there's more going on behind the scenes and is not a pleasant idea. On top of that, it also hints to some really problematic spots and hospitalizations coming if I get a bad diagnosis.
I'm still working on the next chapter, slowly, but depending on how my next few doctors appointments go, it might wind up being a while. I could make a lot of excuses, but I just honestly haven't been in the mood to sit down and write while dealing with all of these health issues for the last two months.
Hopefully, things aren't as bad as they seem right now and I can slam out some good words for you all, but that's not seeming very likely right now.

OMG, i wish you the best of luck, i hope you get better
S'alright, brah. Just focus on staying as healthy as you can, kay? By the by, will you heading out to Bronycon next week?
2314031 Nope, even if I had the money to go, I wouldn't really be able to do a convention in my current state.
2314400 Alas... I suppose I shall have to wait to meet you in person some other time, then. After you get better, naturally.
Your health takes priority, mate. Focus on that and let the story wait for a bit if that's what you need to recover.
In the event that things go horribly wrong, and find you need a kidney, and subsequently are unable to find a suitable donor, I kid you not friend... Reach out to us. I have met many a fellow who frequents this site who has straight up offered to donate one in the event tha a complete stranger they met in passing needed one. I myself am among that crew. Nobody has taken me up on it yet though. :)
Yes, I just offered you a kidney if life decides to give you the finger for some asinine reason and you can use it. I'm in the Twin Cities up in Minnesota though, so... :/
Not knowing your region, I suggest reaching out to us all. With that though, keep us all updated! A speedy recovery to you and a wish for luck that you have a best case scenario as opposed to that mess detailed above. :)
agh D: best wishes
That… that really sucks to hear, man.
A close family friend of mine had similar problems two years ago. Okay, he had the exact same problem. It was acute kidney failure that hit him in the winter of 2012. He lasted a while with all the horrifying symptoms. Since he has an aversion to seeking medical help (he has his reasons, and it would be in poor taste for me to divulge such things here publicly), things got bad enough that he could no longer eat, was having the occasional hallucination, couldn't sleep, was going blind, and losing motor ability. He's always been a fighter so he did his best to never let it all stop him completely.
In about March of 2012 is when things came to a head and we took him to the hospital. When they were finally able to stabilize him (though they still hadn't diagnosed what went wrong) they explained that he probably only had about 18 hours left to live, and might have been at death's door while they were detoxing his blood. After he was cleared to be released, everything pretty much changed. He has to do dialysis every other day and has to watch what he eats. So, naturally he occasionally ignores those warnings.
That's just the kind of guy he is. He's been told many things in his life and overcame them all. This is no different, it's just taking longer. He hasn't had to recover from something of this magnitude before, but he's been told he'd never walk again and pretty much said a huge "Fuck that" and was walking again in no time.
The point of all this is, even if things go a bit sour, there is always a way to recover. There's always hope that things can return to a sense of normalcy. Two years ago, he would have constant muscle spasms and still couldn't sleep while being incredibly weak from staying in a hospital for two weeks. Now, he's back to a significant portion of his old strength, he's sleeping more (still not a lot, but more) and no longer has severe muscle spasms. Despite what others may see as him still being weak and needing dialysis, all I see is someone striving to overcome an obstacle and succeeding.
You have the support of your many fans and surely the support of a caring family. Really, that's all you need to get to a speedy recovery. For those of us who are spiritual and/or religious, I'm sure we'll be praying for your well being. And for those who are neither, I'm sure you have their best wishes as well. Good luck with everything and get well, no matter how long it takes.
I hope this doesn't turn out to be anything truly serious. I would hate to hear that another person I know has passed on. You get better right now darn it! You got a life to live! But seriously, get better soon Kaldanor. We will be sending you all our prayers and hopes.
dude be very careful with that!! i also had kidney problems and right now i can barely eat anything... please take care!
