So... Happy Birthday to me. And more disappointing news after the break.

So, hey guys. Been a while. Sorry for my long absence, but because of real life keeping me busy, I couldn't do much writing. And because of that, my creativity has slowly began to halt. I tried to jump start it back, writing some pages for all my stories, but I couldn't really keep it up. Hopefully, that didn't mean I was going to up and abandon everything. I have some drafts for Iron Colt and

Feathered Heart Chapter posted Plus Stuff

Well, I finally put out Chapter 19, and hopefully I'll get 20 out soon. These two chapters have been sitting in my Google Drive for months. They were already pre-read and looked at, but I couldn't publish them until I made sure that the following chapters afterwards were going to the direction I wanted. I now have a vague idea where to go, but without writing for that amount of time, I think I

Happy Christmas and any other Holidays you celebrate this time

It's a day after Christmas. My Grandmother, whose birthday is on the 25th of December is getting her party later. I'm looking forward to the suckling pig roasted over a spit.

This year is almost coming to an end. Funny that my most productive moments of writing were in the past few weeks alone.

Working on Feathered Heart Chapter 15

Well folks, for some reason, I've been churning out words for the new draft. I already reached a respectable 3000 words on two sittings. That's a little rare for me now, since I've been gone from the game for a while. Hopefully, I'll have this bad boy ready soon.

    Changeling Roun Chapters Published

So, yeah, there you go. Have fun.

Time has not been generous to me. I've been moving from one place to another, and any free time, I have spent either sleeping or playing with my BRAND NEW PS4!!! Yeah! I saved up, and even got some extra birthday money that allowed me to finally buy the console. I had a blast with all my games.

Now that Changeling Roun chapter 10 is published, I finally put a request to WRITE for a review. We'll see how the response goes.

I'm now in two minds. I'm now writing the first part of my Feathered Heart chapter 12 draft, but also, thinking of making a one-shot fic using a prompt proposed by Obselescence, in which he called The Most Dangerous Game. It's basically a challenge into making a good story out of premises which can trap people into making bad stories.

Honestly, though, I think I made most of my (short) career in FimFic basically meshing bad premises. A male human escort that accounts his time with his customers? An almost universally-disliked one-shot canon character lead with a human in a war/military fic? And now, an changeling culture exploration with a hint of mystery?

Of course, Obselescence couldn't let clop be part of it. :rainbowwild: Clop is pretty bad when doing stories, and yet I made a decent one. Or a semi-decent one. Meh.

The one-shot I may do is going to use Human in Equestria, and Seventh Element of Harmony, with maybe a dash of Romance with Mane Six. Though honestly, I'm not feeling too well in writing anything yet, so we'll see.

Also, I just watched How to Train Your Dragon 2, and it's different from the first. The elements of friendship is awesome is still there, of course, but all the other themes seemed to mature more. In makes sense, because all of the characters are five years older. The pacing is a bit off for me, but mostly because they tried to squeeze a lot of things in this one. It wasn't as bad as Amazing Spider-Man 2, but there were a few awkward moments.

There's a romance aspect, but surprisingly, not from the people you'd expect; there were also some female gaze which had me laughing; and badass Hiccup growing exactly as I pictured him to be. Can I say 'Batman' of Berk? XD

There was some flying sequences, which, in my opinion, was the best part of the first Dragon, but not as good on the sequel. However, there were some nice shots and vivid images that was a bit haunting.

The film left me into a contemplative mood, which doesn't happen often. I can't exactly say whether I liked it better than the first, but it was enjoyable and worth my limited monies.

Alright, that's all for now folks. Later.

I had to laugh at Obsolescence's contest. I wonder if he'd give extra credit if you threw in "ideas generally accepted as terrible" even if they're not on the list.

You know what is funny about the list. Thete are already plemty of excellent stories that use one, or more of those prompts. So I am thinking that the contest holder is just very biased againsts those prompts, or has only ever seen, or just remebers the crap.

Yeah, I saw that contest too and thought, "Hey, I'm doing something kinda sorta like that." Then I saw the part where it couldn't be an obvious parody or satire, so that pretty much killed my interest. Although, I have been developing an idea for a ponified BiE that may or may not happen once I'm done with my current project.

*shudders*

Who cares if those were awful story premises, YOU made them awesome. That's what counts.

Shit, I wrote a shamless self-insert. Over 1000 upvotes. Just depends on how you write it, that's all.

Premises that are bad turned on its head and made absofuckinglutely good is what i love about your style. God, i can't wait to see what story you'll come up with (even if it's clopless - meh :applejackunsure:) in obselescence contest.

Anyway about How to train your dragon 2 - I've heard from my sister that an interesting change (surprising as she put it) has happened to one of the twins, the girl Ruffnut? Care to say anything on that? :scootangel:

Stay awesome Demon Eyes :3

I'm now writing the first part of my Feathered Heart chapter 12 draft

F-YEAH !

thinking of making a one-shot

please not, your oneshots have the tendancy to leave people waiting for more ^.~

You know what would be a terrible premise? Equestria visited by Great White Apes, Prince Blueblood bribed to allow them to buy off their land, while Princess Luna and Princess Celestia were killed, while the rest of the Princesses were screwed silly. And make that to a musical.

But hey, if Disney can make Pocahontas like that, then it shouldn't be too hard, eh? :trollestia:

2200174

Or must have seen a lot of bad stories with those premises. Obs is a story approver, so he probably sees more crap than we do. :derpytongue2:

2200309

It's always in the execution. ^_^

2200314

XD Thanks. See? SI should have been part of a premise in the whole Dangerous Game. Honestly, I'm beginning to think Obs has such low views of FimFic writers.

2201168

If I do write for it. I'm not really feeling like writing too much at the moment, and I'm already working on the Feathered Heart draft.

As for Ruffnut, two words: female gaze. XD

2201697

XD It's not connected to the Gentlemanverse in any way. Heck, I don't even know if I'm going to write it.

2200314

Selling a self-insert as good storytelling? Now that is Hard Mode.

:raritywink:

2200314 2201904

See? See? I wrote a lot of SIs too, and it's very hard to make a coherent story about them. Shachza is a bit right. Not hard mode, but Nintendo Hard. :derpytongue2:

2200314

Shit, I wrote a shamless self-insert. Over 1000 upvotes. Just depends on how you write it, that's all.

The Last Brony? I didn't know it was a self-insert. Then again, I never read it, so... yeah.

Over 1000 upvotes.

Must be nice.

2224963 It is awesome to get that kind of attention. But don't you gimme that shit. You have 621 upvotes on Wilted Flower. That's really fucking good, you realize that? Dude, back in the day when I got Dash Eats Meat featured, and it got like 250 upvotes, I creamed my jeans (and thought I was hot shit). And here you are, 3 times that amount of attention, and still moping around, telling yourself you suck.

Seriously? :ajbemused:

If you still think you have a problem with writing, perhaps you're simply looking in the wrong places. Instead of your skill that might need work, maybe it's your attitude, self confidence, etc. Besides, even if it is your skill with the pen, there's only one way to improve, and that's practice. Come on now. Go forth and conquer write!

2225046
Oh its most definitely my self-confidence, coupled with jealousy and insecurity. They are my ultimate downfall.

Edit: As well-received as my story was, it was never featured.

2225117 Another small part of your downfall may also be a lack of understanding of how the system works. Any story with 600 upvotes will be featured (however briefly) when it gets updated. Provided, of course, you know exactly when to publish a new chapter.

Fimfic is all a game of chance for us writers. Some get lucky, others not. And some, like me, have a trick or two to tip the odds in their favor.

2225177

Provided, of course, you know exactly when to publish a new chapter.

I've seen people say that it's best to update on the weekend at night, or when the moon is full and at the proper azimuth. I'm pretty sure that it's the former, though.

And some, like me, have a trick or two to tip the odds in their favor.

I'm going to guess and say that you use the traffic counter at the bottom of the web page to see how many users are online.

2225228

2225177's right. Other than GFM (which I think automatically gets featured when it gets updated because of the Favorite numbers), my other stories don't get featured except once, when it first gets published.

Publishing the story itself is the easiest way to get Featured. Updates, less so.

And even then, it's not a good indication of anything. It's just bragging rights. I haven't gotten to your story yet, but 600 plus upvotes is very good. Especially for five chapters. Changeling Roun is just leaving that mark, and it needed ten chapters.

Best indicator on how popular your story is? Hits. That rarely lies. FimFic even has a good graph to show you how many people wait for its update by telling you how many hits you have the next day you publish a chapter.

2225228 Actually, I regularly consult the stars before posting.

Kidding.

My methods are a bit complicated and though there is a scientific element, it also relies heavily on premonition and intuition. If you're ever interested, pm me.

2225515 Actually you reminded me of something Merlos the Mad said. Until recently, getting featured upon updating has been utterly broken. Which applies only to stories originally published after a certain date. When that is, I don't know, but I do know that Last Brony was published before that date, and so didn't have a problem. Merlos claims it's been fixed now, but whether or not that applies to all stories or only new ones, I don't know.

2225515

but 600 plus upvotes is very good.

The problem with that, is that I've been told that I'm a good writer (which I vehemently deny), but I only have 621 upvotes. A writer who shall remain nameless (zamairiac) writes shitty human/Alicorn romance, and received thousands of upvotes on his cliché work. It makes me stop and think "why do I even bother? "

2225981

Popular doesn't always mean good. Trust me, I've seen other stories which I think are Crap but getting more upvotes than mine. In the end, you'll realize you can't really control what people like. Upside is, I can control what I vote. And the kicker? If I can't find a story I want, I can just make it. :raritywink:

2225981 Hey man, people like what they like. I don't know if anyone thinks Zam is a writing god, but I like the concepts. Sometimes the theme can carry poor writing. You need to concentrate on you, and not what others are doing. If you are always comparing yourself to another metric, then your always gonna fall short.

*EDIT* Also, I have had wilted flower on my to read for ages now, I can't speak for others, but when I see a story with a really good up vote ratio, like your story, I'm like wooh....but then I look at when it was last updated, and if its been awhile, sometimes I think why should I even read it, this will probably not even get competed. Their are so many good, incomplete stories on this site, and with no updates or blog posted saying whats going on. That turns a lot of people away from even touching them.

2226541 do that one shot, except if its good, be prepared for it to not be a one shot, these are the issues that you will have. We love you!

2230862
I don't blame you for not wanting to read my story (it's not really that good anyway); it's been over a year since I last updated it, but I'm trying to get back into writing it. I worked on the next chapter a bit last night, and it felt odd to be writing again. I don't really like to blog, which is a bit of an issue, like you stated in your comment; I should probably keep my fans/readers in the loop as to what's been going on. I feel like a total asshole for keeping people waiting and wondering what's happening.
