    The Grand(ish) Sorta-Return

I want to start this blog post by thanking all my readers for the overwhelming support over the most recent chapter of Sprockets in the North. Thank you for sticking around during my long absence from publishing, and thank you for reading my work.

Excuses, Site Updates, and Lunar Eclipses.

First off, I'm sorry for the delay in updates. It's getting to be that time of year where I have to adjust to a serious lack of energy. I'm still writing, just having trouble staying conscious long enough to write well. Many of you don't mind, but I still feel the need to apologize. "Sorry" is a versatile word anyway.

    Guess What?

An awesome person is working on an audio version of Gears in the Void! I'm just as surprised as you are but probably more thrilled. Samaru163 was the one who suggested it to him, so I really have two people to thank for this most non-heinous occasion. At

    Small Edits

Hello there, and welcome to another thrilling update from that one pony writer, Lab.

During a conversation with a friend—and grammar... let's say "enthusiast"—he pointed out that I didn't need italics for personal thoughts, because I've been writing in first person. To be honest, I have to agree. I'll have to rework the tense of a few of those sentences, but that's not anything major.

    The Equestrian Measurement Conspiracy

As we all know, US customary units (hereon referred to as "standard measurement" or just "standard") are a silly way of measuring things compared to the common sense of the metric system. Yes, there are a billion-and-one different measurements in standard to cover all sorts of situations, but that's just a ploy to hide the truth. Also, we get to strike fear into the hearts of metric users with

The Moment a Fair Percentage of You have been Waiting For. · 9:32pm May 15th, 2014

The sequel, Sprockets in the North, is out!

As some of you may have noticed, I have also updated all of Gears in the Void. Most of the changes are word choice, and very little has actually changed from the original version:

Applejack's "prank" has been removed. I felt it was too weird, and that's saying something.
The scene breaks have been converted to a consistent symbol. There's no need to go back and see what it was, as there is one in the first chapter of the sequel. I thought the old scene breaks were too jarring.
There were two parts that didn't belong in a first-person story, Luna's Debriefing, which has been turned into an optional interlude, and Balsa and West running to Ponyville in the middle of the night, which has been cut out.
The humanity spiel has been shortened.
The drinking scene at the nightclub has been altered. I've actually been drunk, so just putting 'sh' and '...hic' everywhere is a little embarrassing.

None of this changes how the story plays out, but there will always be those that prefer the original version. For you, I have saved a copy of the old chapters on G-docs. No sign-in required, just the link.

I wish we had another section for tagging characters. There's a few I wanted to tag because they're important, but they're just not important enough. Kinda like how the TV series has main characters, background characters, and secondary characters (not main cast, but they have in-show established names, like Cheerilee or Ms. Harshwhinny).

I think it might be worth it to do a Q&A at the end of each story, as questions are bound to pop up. Ask what you want in the comments, and I'll do my best to answer it without spoilers in a later blog post.

Yesssss.

I suppose I'll have to read everything, because yes.

A Q&A could be fun too, though don't expect any questions until I'm done with the re-read. So, some time tomorrow :pinkiecrazy:

That is actually a very good idea. I might consider that for my own fictions.
