    The Grand(ish) Sorta-Return

I want to start this blog post by thanking all my readers for the overwhelming support over the most recent chapter of Sprockets in the North. Thank you for sticking around during my long absence from publishing, and thank you for reading my work.

Excuses, Site Updates, and Lunar Eclipses.

First off, I'm sorry for the delay in updates. It's getting to be that time of year where I have to adjust to a serious lack of energy. I'm still writing, just having trouble staying conscious long enough to write well. Many of you don't mind, but I still feel the need to apologize. "Sorry" is a versatile word anyway.

    Guess What?

An awesome person is working on an audio version of Gears in the Void! I'm just as surprised as you are but probably more thrilled. Samaru163 was the one who suggested it to him, so I really have two people to thank for this most non-heinous occasion. At

    Small Edits

Hello there, and welcome to another thrilling update from that one pony writer, Lab.

During a conversation with a friend—and grammar... let's say "enthusiast"—he pointed out that I didn't need italics for personal thoughts, because I've been writing in first person. To be honest, I have to agree. I'll have to rework the tense of a few of those sentences, but that's not anything major.

    The Equestrian Measurement Conspiracy

As we all know, US customary units (hereon referred to as "standard measurement" or just "standard") are a silly way of measuring things compared to the common sense of the metric system. Yes, there are a billion-and-one different measurements in standard to cover all sorts of situations, but that's just a ploy to hide the truth. Also, we get to strike fear into the hearts of metric users with

Excuses, Site Updates, and Lunar Eclipses. · 6:19am Oct 8th, 2014

Anywho, I've been waiting for the bookshelf update for ages—I get to organize so many fics. Things are a bit choppy right now, but that sort of thing happens whenever any site with a lot of traffic updates. I'll admit the new front page will take some getting used to, but all in all, I like the change.

As I write this, the lunar eclipse is still three-and-a-quarter hours off(it starts at 4:15 CDT), and I'm having trouble keeping my eyes open, but I'm still looking forward to seeing it. Hopefully, I won't have to walk too far to get a decent view. I've heard that the USA's east coast will only get to see the first half and will miss the total eclipse, but I live in Wisconsin. However, I found Slooh's livestream of the event, so those of you in cloudy areas or unfortunate timezones still have a chance to see it.

I'm going to get some writing in before I head out.

PS: 502 Error almost screwed this post. Make sure you copy comments and blog posts before you try adding them to the site.

PPS: I misread a few things and gave out incorrect information about the eclipse's visibility. To eliminate confusion, I dug up a visibility map.

PPPS: If you missed the event, the livestream I linked earlier allows you to rewatch the whole thing.

Neato! I like the changes too, but I was freaking out for a bit. Oh, I almost forgot. Hibernating season for you too?

Hold on, I'm in GA...Will I get to see it?

Lab

2516304 Unfortunately, I made a mistake when I originally said where it would be visible. I've updated the post with clearer information. In Georgia, you should be able to catch the first half of it, but the moon will be below the horizon before the total eclipse starts.

2516347 It's so bright out, Lab... Am... Am I dying?

I know I'm crying... It's so beautiful...

Lab

2516532 I hope not. Put on some sunglasses. Problem solved.

2516537 Ave. Noctem lucere, quod vivifica pulchre.

Lab...do you mind doing me a favor? Do you mind posting another blog with video from the eclipse. I'm dead tired and won't be able to stay up longer. I mean, I know it's only an hour left till, but I really should have gone to sleep four hours ago. I'm only up now because I'm trying to get used to the new site features.

Lab

2516552 I'll do what I can to find one tomorrow.

2516585 Thanks. G'Night, you wonderful person, you.

Lab

2516603 No problem. I couldn't quite understand your Latin though. I'm very inexperienced in it, but I know just enough to correctly translate English through research. Latin to English still gives me a bit of trouble though.

2516621 Long life. The moon shines beautifully tonight. -(The first three words are in my vocabulary. Means close to the same as 'The Night Shines'.)
