Ash vs. The End of the End

I feel the need to speak about how differently the key events of Season 9 would play out in the Order-naries 'verse, but at the same time I don't feel up to making a proper story out of it. I'm going to split the difference with this blog, outlining what would happen without giving too much detail.

    And the magic goes on...

What a way to end the series. From a story-crafting standpoint, I have some complaints about how the final two-parter got rolling, and the resolution isn't how I'd have handled it.
The overall execution, however, and especially the final final episode, were wonderful.

    Still can't help myself.

I promised I'd focus on Pumahara after I finished Storm-chased, and I honestly have tried to get the next chapter done, but my silly, silly brain just can't leave the Order-naries 'verse slot on my WIP list empty for very long.

    Storm-chased complete and changed

I put up the last chapter of Order-naries: Storm-chased a couple days ago. After looking at it, though, I found myself dissatisfied with the last couple paragraphs, so I've gone back and replaced them with a new, better-paced scene. One that I think works better for Ash and Rarity meeting the dust has mostly settled.

I (probably) just finshed a chapter of Naborale! · 1:49am May 2nd, 2014

I'm going back and forth on whether to call chapter 5 "done" or not. I haven't gotten the ponies all the way through the Voltaic Age yet and I'd like to stick to my tradition of one chapter, one Age (or Island in Sohndar's case) or the accessing of the next Age, but on the other hand the chapter's already at the high end of my average word count per chapter. Something else stopping me from just calling it a Chapter and posting is I'm not sure how long the second half of Voltaic is going to take me to write in terms of both time and words. It could be short enough to not warrant its own chapter, or it could take me another 3k+ words. But it's been so long since I updated...
So conflicted. :raritydespair:

Hm... Have you gone to a prereader to see what they think? If not, I'd be willing to take a look.

Excellent! :yay:

(Also, protip: when in doubt, make jokes about the Lava Chamber puzzle being ridiculous. A perennial favourite of the Myst DA community.)

I should probably start actually reading that beyond the intro.

If you try to continue the chapter as one thing, you should under no circumstances try to curb its length just because you did so. Be it 5k or 20k, it's a disservice if it's cut short of what you actually have to write. On the other hand, if you two-part it, the second half should not be padded out beyond its natural length either.

Honestly, I say finish it and then determine whether to split it afterwards. It's enough for us to know you're actually not dead.
