APRIL FOOLS!
Naw, I'm just fucking with you. It actually is about there.
I know I always keep you guys waiting a long time for updates to Last. It's been, what? 4 months? Not the longest time, but still quite a while. You guys are very patient! But I feel that I need to take my time with Last to keep its quality up. I could just force myself to write it, but in some ways, I feel like that would bastardize what has become my most popular and praised work.
The thing is, Last doesn't have editors or prereaders or what have you, I do all that on my lonesome. But the thing is, once I've finished a chapter, I generally take about 1 week to go over it, edit and tweak it. Then I take another week or two to find the perfect time to publish it. It's very time consuming. Anyway, since you guys are so patient, I have a special treat for you. What I'm going to do today is let you all read the unedited version. Now, it might have a typo or two, which I despise, so please bear with me on that. But the bulk of the story and dialog should be the same as the final finished product. Oh yeah, also, bbcode formatting doesn't transfer to google docs... sorry.
But since I am giving you this early, I'd really appreciate it if you'd at least open the chapter here on fimfiction after I actually publish it. Keeps the story views up.

I can't wait for this to be all polished up, I noticed a few little mistakes here and there but I'm sure you'll fix them up well and truly before posting the chapter.
It is quite a Thwist when Dane found out that he is imaginary. It certainly is a mistake on his part when he mentions that that he ate horse meat. It is a superthwist when while lynching him for eating horse-meat, ShoeShine accidentally gets his blood in her mouth and discovers that humans are delicious. ¡The ponies who lynch him for eating horse-meat eat him!
¿I wonder about the significance is in the last sentence in the last paragraph when Spike retrieves the book “An Human For Ponies” from the stacks is? ¡You certainly end on a cliffhanger!

If you need an editor, ask. I'm sure there are people who wanna do it. Like me. But I'm already editing for like five people and I'm currently stuck in bed, so that wouldn't work too well. Screw being sick.
Well heck, if you want someone to help edit I wouldn't mind giving a hand. I like to think that I do a decent job.

If it's any consolation, a lot of what I wrote just last night is actually very much usable for the chapter. Spoiler: He's going to meet Lyra. Basically, writing this put me in the creative groove, so it should be much easier to continue on.

1978784 1978792 That's another reason I dislike having editors. Consider it wrong, unprofessional, or whatever you want to label it, I write how I like. I use the rules of writing and language like guidelines, not rules. If I want to have a comma where there should be a semi-colon, damn the rules, I'm gonna do it! If I want to address a person by name and not put a comma before their name, I'm gonna do it. That's just how I roll homie.
Personally, I put the story and how it reads above the importance of conforming to standards. But that doesn't mean I don't respect those standards. As I'm sure you've seen, I'm kind of a grammar Nazi when it comes to my own writing.

From what I understand this is exactly what it means to be a great editor. The whole point of editing is to perfect the sharing of ideas and information. Sometimes the rules aren't the best way to do that, you lose a part of the author's voice when you cut it down like that.
1979523 Actually, in my case, it's OCD. I literally cannot allow an error to continue to exist.
Thankfully, I just discovered that if I read quickly, I don't notice the errors! That's a few hours of discomfort avoided.
When I edit, though, I mark everything, but don't change anything. It's the author's choice whether or not to correct it.
