022 Celebration: 100 Followers!

When I took up writing fanfiction I imagined a long way ahead of me. Like, a really long and rough one, with twists, turns, potholes, bandits and all kinds of other weird stuff. But I chose to walk this path nevertheless, hoping that maybe it won’t be so bad. Maybe I’ll meet wonderful people who’ll guide me, show me the right way, protect me from those bandits or simply encourage a weary traveler to go forward.

And so I kept walking, passing various milestones one by one – like ten stories in total published, thousand accumulated views on one of them, some weird sum of all likes across all stories – not even stopping to celebrate or send a postcard to those who helped me in the past. It’s probably because I’m rarely satisfied. I constantly strive to achieve more, both for myself and for my readers alike, by improving the way I deliver content and coming up with (hopefully) well-thought ideas and characters. So I wasn’t even going to celebrate this milestone, but I figured… what the hell.

Because today I’m partying like crazy! Pop the champagne, grab a piece of cake, fire up the fireworks! Whether you followed me after reading one of my stories, blog posts, or upon reading some witty comment, you’re welcome to join the party!

That’s just the amount of crazy I can take! What, don’t look at me like that! I’m a responsible person!

Anyway, I just want to say that you guys are AMAZING! And supportive. And kind. And wonderful. And I’m definitely not going to cry… look what you did, now I’m getting all emotional! But those are very positive feelings, and I cherish them as much as I cherish and treasure every word of encouragement I’ve ever heard from you. Thank you. Thank you all!

Time for some good news, everyone! There’s a reason I labeled this blog post with Of Lilies and Chestnuts. With my finals officially done I can now engage writing mode once again, so expect something about Fleur, Fancy and Nutsie in February. I already have a draft of Chapter 7 and I could probably publish it soon, but then I’d leave you with a particularly nasty cliffhanger, so I think I’ll be taking my time with that. I also reworked the Prologue after your suggestions. It's now a bit longer, better and... not yet published. I'll do that when I'll be ready to publish Chapters 7 and 8, I just wanted to indicate that I'm working towards making this fic the best it can be.

In the meantime, I’d like to honor La Vallett1 who not only turned that nasty 99 into a pretty, shiny 100, but also set up a TVTropes page for Of Lilies and Chestnuts. Since I’m not really acquainted with that site myself, I thought I’ll leave a link here so perhaps you could help it grow.

There’s one more thing I’d like to say. It seems to be a common thing around FIMFiction for authors to celebrate their personal achievements by letting his or her followers decide what kind of story they’d like to see next. You know, posting a couple of ideas and doing voting and stuff. I thought of doing just that, but then I realized it would not be wise. I don’t want to get involved in totally new projects since there’s OLAC to finish and Dreamlocked which kind of deserves a continuation. So forgive me, I won’t be able to commemorate this milestone in a way I wanted to!

Or maybe… there’s a draft I have that I’d like to revive which features Doctor Whooves (interpreted as regeneration of the Doctor himself) and another character from the MLP universe that I hold very dear to my heart. It’s thought of as a one-shot [Adventure][Crossover] set one thousand years into the future… sort of a glimpse of my vision of high-tech Equestria… anyway, if that ever comes to life, I’ll make sure to dedicate it to you, guys!
