Okay, so first off, I'm glad to see a few of you enjoyed that first chapter of Doctor Bees goes to Equestria. I was honestly surprised it hadn't been done yet, so I'm kinda honored to get to do it first. Chapter two is coming along, I'm not gonna say when it will be done, but I'm not not working on it, so that's something.
Next, I've had a few people bring this to my attention, https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=PiBohDujLPs and I must say. That was the most amazing thing I've seen done for MLD yet. I can't even begin to express the kinds of feelings it brought in me. Not necessarily the topic, but the actual fact that a group of people stepped up and actually made a half hour movie about something I wrote. I know many of you know my own personal feelings about my own fic, and how undeserving I feel for both the praise and these amazing fan made pieces, but I would like to thank everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, who worked on that movie, has made the fan art, and the countless fiction parodies/spinoffs/sequels/threequels/fourthquels/whatever else.
I cannot say that I have done anything in life that has meant a damn, but seeing how a simple story written on sleep deprivation has inspired so many to draw, animate, and most of all write has been one of the most amazing feelings I could have ever asked for. So, thanks, and I hope that I don't turn out to be a dissapointment this year like I have been in the past.
On that note... I have a question I'd like to get some opinions on. I know many of you on here write, and have multiple stories. Well, currently in my gdocs I have about twenty fics that are only on their first chapter, plus notes and other things. So I was curious, would you guys want me to post some of these fics? See, I go through weird writing moods where I wanna write one fic, then the next day I wanna work on a different one. I dunno if it's a form of ADD, ADHD, or whatever else there is, but when ideas pop into my head I just go with it. I was curious your thoughts on the matter, and if you could stand me having five or so fics up at a time, all works in progress, and erratically updates on them.
Well, I'd like to read them. I suppose as long as you don't mind erratically updating and such, it should be fine :)
I say share some of them.
And congrats on having one of your stories made into a film. It just further encourages me to continue improving, so that someday, someone will do the same with one of my fics.
That whole event of writing an idea that you had and then the next day, or even an hour later, not wanting to work on it anymore... is normal. Believe me, I go through about five of those a day, and twenty per week (I do stuff on the weekends). It's a defining characteristic of being a writer. It's the ability of recognizing which ones are good enough to pursue that makes or breaks an author. I have every confidence in you that you'll (wait for it...) follow your heart and do what you want to do and write what you want to write.
Keep in mind, though, that public opinion isn't worth a d
mn if it keeps you from writing. Post what you want, even if it seems stupid. Look at MLD. You don't (apparently) think that was good, but look at the response! It truly is a great story.
So, post whatever! I'll read it!
