(Seaon Premier Spoilers) My Body Wasn't Ready... · 8:28pm Nov 23rd, 2013

... but it was so satisfied afterward. Seriously, once the credits rolled, I felt like I needed a cigarette and a good cuddle. But since I'm quitting, I settled for slapping on a new nicotine patch and blogging.

So, yeah, everyone who was bitching about Twilicorn ruining the show can now Shut the fuck up. She's still Twilight; adorkable, neurotic yet capable Twilight.

Sweetie Belle started using magic. And the world shall weep.

In the promo for the next episodes, we saw Scootaloo riding her scooter through what looked like a big performance. Prediction: she can't fly, but succeeds anyway, maybe even earning her cutie mark?

Spike walked on all fours for a little bit. Acting like more of a dragon, perhaps?

Discord was brilliant. Still playful, a bit devious, but reigned in by friendship. Fluttershy still stood up for him, which was awesome.

Dat backstory... the battle between Nightmare Moon and Celestia was thrilling for the length it was. I got feels when she blasted Tia, and the tears in Tia's eyes when she used the Elements was beautiful. ONLY thing I could have wanted more was a brief shot of Celestia breaking down afterwards:

So, is Twilight now full time in Canterlot?

All in all, I loved it. Seriously, even beyond the hype of a new season after a nine month hiatus, I think these stand as the second best premier, after only Return of Harmony. I am so happy with the way they worked things out. This is gonna be great.

Oh, and is it sad that I can already see the flood of tentacle/mind control/potion-induced flashback clopfics that are sure to take over the feature box in a few days? Eeyup. Reddit has been flooded with tentacle porn. Told ya, so.

"Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit cuddles"

That would have been the most perfect thing ever.

I hated the fucking second episode just because NO REAL VILLAIN I wanted to see duke nukem punch a weasel

I still don't get how at the end there, Twilight's suddenly a good flyer, despite it pretty much being shown it'd be preferable that she didn't.

I must second these emotions. It was a return to form after the relative weakness of season 3, and if they continue with this level of quality we'll be getting gravy for the next half year. Fantastic.

The promotional material keeps calling Twilight like "Ponyville's princess" or stuff like that. Fluttershy also called the library to Twilight "her library". I know the premiere wasn't too clear but I doubt they're going to permanently move her to Canterlot.

It was inevitable, especially when the main villain in the premiere is a bunch of vines/tentacles.

Amen brother Jake, but you know they won't.

I'm not yet convinced Twilight is full time in Canterlot, she might have just been there temporarily to make an appearance at the Summer Sun Celebration. There were some comments from Rarity towards the beginning of the episode about making her loft in the library more regal, so she may be back in Ponyville for episode 3 and beyond.

To me this was the best season premier this far. Sure I LOOOOOOVED the return of harmony but to me the pacing in that was a little bit off. But NOT here to me this premier was just perfect from the pacing to the characterization it was perfect! Or... As close to perfect as they could be. And the backstory! So much cool unforgiving headcanon-crushing backstory! Ah... It was truly a sight for (pony)sore eyes.

How in the hay do you do drill smoking? I don't even....

Agreed everyone needs to can it over this. She isn't going to build an imperial army. Not That I don't support her imperium.

Think it's way too early for the cmc to get their cutie marks. Maybe not ever in the show.

Discord made me laugh more than I ever have during the show. Ever. I can't even... Brilliance.

And I am very tempted to write a Pinkie likes a different kind of frosting clop fic. Maybe Rainbow would join her.

:rainbowhuh:

The characters themselves in the CMC are great, but the constant, "CUTIEMARKCUTIEMARKCUTIEMARKCUTIEMARKCUTIEMARKCUTIEMARK" Is getting stale as fuck. Hell, it WAS stale as fuck by Cutie Pox! The show is known for it's character growth, something that was spot on in this premier, so they need to grow.

So with you there on the Twilicorn thing. What were people freaking out about? And the breakdown after sending Luna to the moon idea would've been just perfect. Also, I hope your cigarette quitting goes well. I hear that is not an easy thing t do, but I'm sure you can.

1533925 I'm shocked you aren't jumping on me to write Rainbow/Pinkie in a bathroom stall with cocks and lots and lots of frosting.

I could totally go for a cuddle anytime.

And I have to agree with you...this was an awesome opener!
I loved how they portrayed Discord too. Totally aware of what was going on and wasn't causing problems, but didn't go out of his way to help...and he was totally eating up the chaos.

I'm also happy to see Season 4 starting with a rocking awesome beginning!

Just watched them and I do love the season premiere, from Twilight's flying antics, to the interesting visions of the past and simply for having new pony episodes. The premiere and your comment about wanting to see Celestia have a little breakdown also reminded me of something specific I had been waiting for since the first season: a Celestia episode, something to really breathe life into her character. I think it would be fun if done right.

Very minor things that bothered me was 1, how suspicious they were of Discord. I was suddenly reminded of how ex-convicts get treated in that they are always under suspicion no matter how "reformed" they are or supposedly are. 2, Twilight going "remember how horrible it was to be stuck on the moon for 1k years? We're gonna do it again if you don't calm down!" reaction to seeing Nightmare Moon as opposed to trying to appeal to Luna's better nature. It seems a very punitive stance to take on the get go.

Listen to me being Douchey McNitpick. I do think it was an excellent start and dispels the bad vibes I got from Magical Mystery Cure. I think they can do a lot of fun stuff with twilicorn.

1533232 Maybe she found enough books on aerodynamics?

Considering the last released episode was MMC, this season's start isn't that bad.

To all that care, thou art not prepared for the episodes (multiple arcs in and of itself) of Pinkie.

Also, the upcoming episode that feature's Discord: goes a bit darker and expands to him turning flutterponies into changelings. Also, he sings!

About Pinkie? I'm just going off the clips released to the web from CONs.

As for Discord, that's just conjecture on my part. (By mousing over blacked-out text you waive my liability for spoilers)
