We all know Celestia's got some Badass in her. Though she seems to have lost some of her edge over the idle years.
But given the hints, from her landing in Feeling Pinkie Keen, to the way she (almost) dealt with Chrysalis... Just how epic would she be if she brushed up on her epic combat skills and showed everypony what it's like to be the pony equivilent to a TU-160?
What do you guys think?
I imagine that when Celestia stops gliding lazily through the air, she flies wth a force that makes the wind ROAR over her wings, producing condensation clouds when she turns. And with magically bosted speed, faster than even Dash herself.
And I think I picked a track that would fit her taking the field in some far off battle.

I would have quite liked Celly to be able to at least hold her own against Chrys, personally. I would think that either of the two princesses could wreck some serious flank if they so wished!

I am imagining a thousands of years of ghandi-like serenity molded over someone who had been raised from foal-hood to become a god-queen. Hm... Ok I am so stealing this idea for my fic.
Reason for abandoning her war skills? She saw what horrors war between gods brings. Her last world was left a cracked deathworld. Or perhaps The Equestrian planet has been left a cracked deathworld and she has been nurturing Equestria back into life for the past few thousand years.
Judging from the fact Chrysalis was herself shocked when Celestia went down like a bitch, and her face during the Beam-O-War... Chrysalis honestly thought SHE was the one who was royally fucked there. Ol' Tia is indeed known as the most dangerous foe you can have in a one-on-one in Equestria.
I think she's pretty nicely portrayed, and we can probably consider her current relative quiescence as "I've finally got a reliable team (well...
somewhat reliable) over the Hellmouth, so I can get some rest". She's probably been doing a lot of the fighting-monsters stuff for over a millennium. Couple that with probably not sleeping for that time, and...
That said, she has an entirely appropriate appraisal of situations, knowing when to deploy force and when not to.
Whenever she's been present and it's something the Six can cope with, she's let them - but kept an eye on them in case she has to intervene with godly powers.
And whenever it's something really serious...

And when Chrysalis showed up, I imagine the only reason she didn't call in the Element strike team again is because fighting a villain whose power is drawn from positive emotion with the elements directly wouldn't work very well.
In my sci fi fic, she and Luna are basically the Equestrian home fleet on the grounds that both of them can do things able to splash an invading enemy fleet (the fury of the sun's plasma and an entire asteroid belt's worth of rocks to throw, respectively.). One of them is legally required to be in residence at all times.
You mean the Lancerski? One of the latest in a long line of copying other nations' innovations, along with the Tu-4, Tu-144... Actually, Tupolev seems to be rather good at rubbing off the serial numbers of other engineers' hard work.
Then would Philomena be an AS-6 or AS-15?
Luna would be more like a B-2A I think. Stealthy and long-range and then BAM, smart bomb in the FACE.
So... Celestia as the Tu-160, the big sister to the B-1, Luna? Sheer amounts of epic. WILL SOMEONE GET ME A F-14 TOMCAT PONY? KTHX
Then again, could be compared to a supersonic bomber carrying only nukes as for a simple carpet bombing, Luna could be carrying only EW-1 TRINITY bombs all the way

I'd imagine Celestia had additional options for dealing with Chrysalis that she couldn't use due to the propensity for collateral damage. The power of the sun (fusion) would be a good way to defeat Chrysalis, but a bad way to protect Canterlot.
I think Celestia could be really badass if she brushed up on her combat skills.

no F-21 is a danish design because some danish designers team up to bring the F-class back in to glory really they are make designs that is why i say it is experimental but it is still on the board only because of the lack of funds

A thousand years of peace and Harmony will cause to you to slack of and lose your combat skills a little. I imagine that with the Reawakening of Nightmare Moon and her return, awakened many dormant evils in Equestria(which is why Discord, the Changelings, whatever is in Tartarus, and other beings not yet shown are active in the show are only now reentering/entering Equestria).
Keeping with the military themes, Pegasi are airplanes, Earth ponies are groundtroopes, unicorns would be projectile-based groundtroopes (Lifting and throwing items at targets like tanks and artillery )
