Happy Halloween, FiMFiction!
It's been almost exactly 10 months since I joined this site, and these have probably been among the most fun and interesting months of my life. I've met a whole bunch of cool people, read a whole bunch of cool fanfic, and written a whole bunch of cool some things as well!
So thank you. Until 2 months in the future, then I'll thank you again.

Alright! I'll shoot all 97—whoa, nearly 100—of you an idea for a new fanfic, just cos I can.
Speculum
Once, there was a magical place called the Speculum. This land was permanently draped in Eternal Night, and its mysterious and varied inhabitants were ruled by Princess Luna.
One day, the sky itself was shattered. Monsters formed in the darker depths of the world, and inhabitants began to disappear as if by magic.
On that day, the Speculum began to shatter.
On that day, Princess Luna found a mysterious mare who couldn't remember who she was or where she came from.
On that day, Twilight Sparkle appeared.
Yeah, how about that shit? I think it has some nice potential for some cool shipping or surreal world-building. Shoot me some of your thoughts in the comments!

I recommend checking out this story and it's prequel. It's probably the best "Evil Twilight" story I've read in terms of atmosphere and sheer epicness. And every chapter is 1000 words long. Pretty cool.
The Coming Storm
The people have been blinded by the light for far too long, but that will all change with the coming storm...
This is a story about antitheses. Light versus dark, good versus evil. This is a story about a struggle for power, and the damage it can leave it its wake. This is a story about the coming storm.
For anyone who doesn't know, I admin for the Nightmare Moon Is Best Pony group. We recently held an image prompt fic writing contest, and this one was the winner. The imagery and description is poignant, and the second person perspective is used well. There are a lot of editing errors, but for a new writer's first story, it was quite impressive.
When They Found Common Ground
What could a smug, arrogant, disrespectful, inconsiderate, country-town farmpony possibly have to offer a seamstress down on her luck? Migraines, premature wrinkles, a revolutionary new fashion line, and a burning attraction that they'd both deny until the moon crashed into Equestria. That's what.
Easily one of the best shipfics I have read on this site. A simple origin story for a RariJack ship, with excellent characters and writing that'll hook you in and won't let go. I loved it, and was therefore shocked and appalled to see that it didn't even get past 100 likes. Remedy this. Now.
The Way of the Warrior
Konishi Ryutaro is a Samurai; a legendary warrior, a paradigm of skill and discipline. When mortally wounded in battle, he wakes up to find himself in a strange new land, filled with alien and exotic creatures.
At first this new world seems peaceful, but when that illusion is shattered by war and an ancient evil, what will the Samurai do? Will he fall just like he did in Japan, or will he show the inhabitants of this world what it truly means to be a Samurai.
To follow the way of the warrior.
I don't like HiE as a rule. However, this one had an interesting premise, and a very solid opening chapter that left me eager to see what happens next. Check it out if you love martial arts and fight scenes (and humans and samurai, obv).
So yeah, those are my top under-appreciated stories as of late. I'll probably do this again, depending on the response.
