Three hundred sixty five days. On this day one year ago, I registered on FimFiction.net. In that time, I have published a dozen stories totaling 135,938 words. I have read... geez, I don't even know how many stories--at least the hundred and seventy nine that I liked enough to favorite. I have laughed a lot, cried a little, and fallen asleep at my keyboard more than once. I have met some very wonderful people, and have gotten the chance to have some interesting conversations with them.
All in all, it's been a good year. I owe thanks for that largely to the--let's see, there's just about two hundred thirty of you now. Thank you all so much for your support. You folks make this possible.
In gratitude (or as punishment, depending on your interpretation), I will now share with you all an embarrassing, shameful secret that has never left the hard drive of my computer until this day.
Behold, proof that I am a terrible writer!
This was my first, unpublished attempt at pony fanfiction. It very narrowly avoided being the first thing I uploaded to FimFic. Fortunately, my clever, attractive spouse happened to read it over my shoulder and informed me that it was inexcusably dull (in nicer words than that, of course). I re-read it and realized that, as always, my clever, attractive spouse was right, and so rather than spend weeks struggling to push the thing beyond mediocrity, I scrapped it and went on to write what would turn out to be my most popular story to date.
I do wonder how things might have been different if I had debuted with this monstrosity instead of A Teatime Visit. The early success of Teatime gave me a huge confidence boost. I'm not so sure I would have kept writing if my first story had gotten the kind of reaction this thing would have deserved.
You might notice that this contains some themes and elements that I would recycle into later, better stories. I talked a lot in the comments section of Stubborn as Ponies about the idea of ending a ship-fic with the couple not together, and learning to get along again as just friends. That was my plan for this thing.
Thank you all for giving me this wonderful year of pony, and I am looking forward to another pony-filled year to come!

Anyhows, I'm glad that you've been with us for a year, because I've really enjoyed having the stories and conversations you've shared with us. Hope you have another really good year or whatever would bring you joy
