Table for a guest, plus call for editors · 8:20am Mar 12th, 2015
Have you heard about Kitsune Risu's new project? No? Have you heard of Kitsune Risu? You should. He's one of the most underrated authors on this site. Roughly one third of my library of Criminally Underrated Stories were penned by this guy.
After a hiatus in which he went to pursue his life's ambition of scaring children for a living (or something like that), Kitsune has come back with a new writing project, Table for Two. The idea for it is wonderfully simple: each chapter consists of a conversation between two characters at a cafe. That's it. Well, there's some time-space shenanigans involved, too, but it's all in service of the dialogues.
I see you furrowing your brows and crossing your arms in front of your chest now. "That's great," you say in a tone a shade less friendly than you meant it, "but if I wanted to know about this Kitty-Rice guy's stories, I'd be following him. What does all this have to do with the odds of seeing a Bitter Harvest sequel before my time on this earthly plane comes to a close?"
Well.
It just so happens that in addition to his own considerable talents, Kitsune has recruited a number of other unspeakably awesome writers to write guest chapters in Table for Two. Unspeakably awesome writers like Crack Javelin, Horse Voice, and Cold-in-freakin'-Gardez. By some clerical error, my name somehow got mixed into the list as well. Someone's bound to notice eventually and correct the mistake, but I'll have my fun in the meantime.
What I am saying is that I wrote a thing. I assume you lot clicked that little eyeball icon because you wish to be notified when this happens. Or you just like eyeballs. Hey, I don't judge.
So that's item one.
Item two is a call for editors. I've got the first chapter of what's going to be, by the end of it, the biggest thing I have ever written. By, like, a whole lot. I could do with some folks to come lay eyes on what I have so far and let me know what they think.
If you've followed my earlier blog posts about what stories I'm Going to Write Someday (TM), this is one of those; Applejack of All Trades. It's a sort of serial adventure story about Applejack being stuck in Manehattan with the ability to copy the cutie-mark and associated special talent of anypony she touches.
Let me know if you're interested in helping out. I'll PM you with a link to the document.
Later, though. Right now it's 2 AM and I have to drive my beloved one to school in the morning. Bedtime!
Applejack of all trades looks like it could be a nice story. Don't know if I have any time editin' this semester tho. We'll see.
And I guess I should check this other story out too =P
I was led here by your stellar writing on Table for Two (you made Fluttershy awesome and that must mean you are awesome). I see your blog is calling for editors. I'd like to see if I'm worthy- uhm, if I qualify.
Full disclosure: I haven't yet read anything of yours, with the guest chapter in Table for Two being the exception. Whether that's a good thing (unbiased editing) or bad (unfamiliar territory), I'll leave to your discretion. Whatever the case, I'm interested, I'm available, and I promise to be as quick as I can.
If you'll have me, that is.
2885348 Excellent! I'm glad you enjoyed my guest chapter. It was fun to participate in Kitsune Risu's little project.
I should think it is a fine thing that that's the only thing of mine you've read (although I always love when folks decide to read more, of course!). I haven't written a whole lot of adventure before, and never anything like what I'm doing in AJOAT, so it'll be unfamiliar territory for everyone - myself included. But with luck, patience, and perhaps a bit of good old-fashioned yelling at each other, hopefully together we can turn the heap of words I have into something people will want to read.
I shall PM you with the link shortly.
